Court allows lawsuit in '92 death of girl,
13, during abortion

the mother of a teenager who died while
having an abortion in 1992 can sue the
chicago clinic where it happened, the
illinois court of appeals ruled
thursday.
Deanna bell was 13 and nearly six months
pregnant when the procedure was performed
at the albany medical surgical center.
She died on the last day of a three-day
abortion procedure, her attorneys said,
because of an overdose of anesthesia
administered by the clinic staff.
Her mother, dianne adams, filed a wrongful
death lawsuit in 1994 against the clinic
at 5086 n. Elston ave., but a jury ruled
in favor of the clinic and its
california-based owner, family planning
associates medical group, five years
later.
The appellate court reversed that decision
in 2000, claiming a cook county judge
wrongfully blocked some evidence from
being heard.
Claim 'too much anesthesia'
the suit was refiled in 2004, but clinic
attorneys asked the court to dismiss it
because so much time had elapsed. Though
the family's attorneys blamed the delays
on court docketing errors, a judge agreed
to throw out the case.
That decision was appealed by the girl's
mom, and thursday's appellate court
decision reinstates the suit, finding
there indeed were clerical errors.
Attorney david myers, who's representing
the family with charles hervas, said the
case could be reheard by year's end.
Myers said they plan to show deanna got
"way too much anesthesia" and it "slowed
everything down, including her
respiration." "nobody noticed," he said,
"until it was too late."
clinic officials declined comment, and
their attorney did not return a call.

so her family is suing for malpractice.
You think this is the first time someone
has die because of anesthesia overdose?
Or that od's only occur during
abortions? |

this took place? However....My heart goes
out to anyone who loses a child. It is

"becky bell" is a link. I am glad that
pl is finally learning about plagiarizing
and realizing that it is wrong. Took
awhile, though, but I am glad that I could
finally make pl understand that it is
wrong. Obviously this was not taught in
the conservative home-schooling scenario
of the more ignorant fundie rightwingers.

Did you guys by the way notice the last
two paragraphs:

But then I would have asked her, 'beck, do

Have an abortion? What do you want? What
can you live with, hon?' we would have
worked it out. But I never got the
chance.
Isn't that sad? She never got the chance
to actually communicate with her parents
about it because she was to afraid, and
this was a household where there was no
initial communication problem. Yet pl
want to push such parental notification
laws on everybody, driving even more teens
to act like becky, and thus we will see
even more teens dying, mur*dered by pl
anti-abortion laws.
Is it any wonder that pc fight to stop
pl's mur*derous assault on teens and
women? Or did pl believe that as long as
their bible-thumping fascism was imposed,
suddenly everything would be fine and no
abortions would ever occur again? Have
pl been so delusional and ignorant that
they forgot the lengths to which desperate
pregnant women would go to terminate their
pregnancies when the laws were against
them? How many more girls like becky has
to die, sacrificed on the altar of pl
self-righteousness?

i forgot the link in mine also, but they
overlooked the fact that I posted it later
once I found it. Kept on going on and on
about me plagiarizing. You also posted
many links for me and they didn't accept
those. Steen's the one who originally
