Ok now I don;t want my buddies getting mad
at me but.... I thinklawslike this are
bad as it just means that young girls
will go get illegal ones or have the
babies and abandon them orbe unfit.
Also who's to say the girl is mature
enough not to have to tell her parents?
Here if you are over 14 you do not need
parental consent for anything medical.
"at the same time, the teenage pregnancy
rate dropped, and by 1997, it stood at
42.7 pregnancies per 1,000 women aged 15
to 19. The decrease in the teenage
pregnancy rate in canada began several
years later than that in the united
states3,12 (chart 1). nevertheless,
the us rate remains about double the
canadian rate"

if parental consent laws have an exception
for those who fear telling their parents
or guardian I am all for them. I just
have a problem with kids not being able to
get a tatoo/body piercing without parents
but are able to go and kill an
embryo/fetus. If this child does it
alone...Who's gonna help them if they fall
ill with an infection and noone knows they
had an abortion so they don't seek help?
I am iffy on certain parental laws. I do
think they need exceptions for children in
abusive homes and other situations.

This is a parental notification law, not
consent law. I see both sides of this
aspect of the abortion. If I were a
parent, i'd want to know if my child had
had a medical procedure. Mom2trevor makes
an excellent point of what if the child
has a complication such as infection and
the parent doesn't know she had an
abortion? Of course, there has to be room
for allowing exceptions in the case of
abuse and such but I have to wonder why a
child who legitmately fears abuse is
allowed to remain in the home.

how do they prove "notification"?
Basically, the parents have to come with
the women to abort for approval. You
can say it a million different ways, but
it is still a consent
law.
actually with a notification law doesn't
the clinic have to contact the parents 24
hours before the minor abortion?

It also says if the girl seem smature
enough her parents don;t have to be
notified. Who deems her maturity?

I suppose that a judge would do that or
someone appointed by the court.
