Hi, Worried With Questions. (seizure?) Posted: 06-11-05 23:40pm
I think i'm having seizures, or i'm just
calling it that until I can confirm what
it is.
Background:
seizure 1: I was about 10 years old,
riding in the car with my mom and lost
vision and felt like I was going into
convulsions. It also felt like I was
urinating on myself. I had just eaten a
meatball sub from subway.
Seizure 2: i'm not sure how long after
this one happened, but it was within a
year. I was in school, sat down for
lunch, blacked out and went into
convulsions again. This time, I noticed
I could still hear everything, just
couldn't see. I went to the doctor
after school, they did various scans but I
wasn't diagnosed with anything. I
couldn't go immediately because the
teacher wouldn't let me call home. She
said it was probably because of blood
sugar and made me come back to class. I
had just sat down to eat lunch when it
happened, but had maybe only had a few
spoons of green beans.
Seizure 3: fast forward about 8-9 years
after not having one at alland i'm sitting
in my bedroom, just ate 2 bowls of cereal
for breakfast(frosted miniwheats), got a
very heavy feeling on my chest and I
remembered this from when I was a kid.
I made it to my bed and the same thing
happened..Vision loss, shaking, but could
still hear.
Okay, go forward about another year to
today and I had another about 1 hour ago.
For about 30 minutes before it happened,
I kept getting this constant urge to pee.
I kept trying, but very little would
come out and it would burn when
trying..This probably happened about 3
times. I went back to try again, but
this time I just sat down and waited for a
few..The same tightening of my chest
occured and I fell onto the floor. I
remained pretty concious but the
convulsions seemed strong and it seems
like I could talk to myself, telling
myself I have to stop doing shaking.
When it finally stopped, I had drooled all
over myself and I was a little confused.
Today, what i've had for food was more
frosted mini wheats for breakfast about
12-13 hours ago and orange chicken with
rice and broccoli for dinner.
I know I should go to the hospital, but I
have no insurance and this one didn't seem
any worse than before, but with the
addition of the urge to urinate before it
happened. I have felt fine all day which
is what's so weird.
I'm 20 years old, male and in pretty good
shape. I'm sure many different things
can cause something like this, but if this
sounds familiar to you, please share.
I'm currently taking a medicine called
hydroxyzine, but only for a few months
now.
Thank you

I am sorry that you are having these. I
think you do need to see a general
practitioner to see what he thinks of
these symptoms. A neuro referral would
really be a good idea. Is there any way
to qualify for some type of insurance?
It does not sound like a blood sugar thing
since it seems you eat first then have
convulsions.
Hope you can get to a doctor and find
answers....

Adult and family services offers free
health insurance which will cover doctors
who specialize in stuff like this. You
will have to fill out alot of forms and
give personal information, but you will be
examined for free.

i just have to ask....Didn't your mom take
you to the doctor when you had your first
one at age 10? You deifinitely should
have this looked into. There are
programs for people without insurance.
Find something and get yourself to a
doctor. Please.
