I've been on paxil for almost 10 yrs and
my doc said it was better for me to
continue with it during my pregnancy than
getting off of it. I have just cut down
my dosage drastically.
Talk to your doc whether the benefits of
it outway the risks.

Zoloft and paxil are about the same
strengts. Side effects are a bit
different. Paxil is a little bit harder
to start and stop (don't stop it abruptly,
you have to slowly cut down) but seems to
work a little better (not a lot) for
anxiety, while zoloft gives a little bit
of stomach queasiness at times (take it
with food). Both can give a bit of
jitteriness when starting up (for about
one week), and both will knock down the
sex drive.
On the other hand, all reports about these
medications in pregnancy, untreated
depression during pregnancy has a much
greater impact. Children from depressed
parents don't do as well, mood-wise,
attention-wise and behavior-wise. It is
not a huge difference, but it is
noticeable.
And notably also, the mom's risk for
post-partum depression and decreased
interaction with the child in the early
part of infancy is also a significant
issue.

hmm, that is a bit odd.
Where you told why you needed to get off?
Other than possible withdrawal symptoms
around delivery (which can be overcome
through lovering the dose for a week),
removing something that works, and going
through the week or 2 of transition seems
more trouble than it is worth. You have
to slowly stop paxil first and then start
up zoloft after a few days. Then it
takes more than a wek to start up again.
And if anything, the reserach has mostly
been done on procaz, so if there are
pregnancy considerations, usually the
physician switches to procaz (which
incidentially takes 2 weeks+ longer to
really work)

I took zoloft but no while I was pregnant.
I took it for depression and yeah it
worked for me. But only a little bit. It
makes you not care about anything pretty
much so you dont get depressed as much.
Well thats what happened to me. I dont
know if it hurts pregnancy cuz I stopped
taking it like a year ago/

I'm on paxil also. I've had two
miscarriages and the only common link that
exists between the two is the fact that I
was on paxil when I conceived and then
when I found out the doc took me off of
it. So whether or not it is the reason
for the miscarriage is an opinion but I
think if I am on paxil when I conceive
again I may just stay on it. I don't
think that I can deal with another
miscarriage. It would be my sixth.

I was on zoloft then they put me on
lexapro but then when I got pg my dr made
me quit taking it. I have had so many
attacts but he says that it would hurt my
baby if I continued. I dont understand
either.

Do you think that they will put me back on
something when I have brionna? I already
know that this deppression is worse but I
think that once I have her maybe I wont
have time to worry about stuff. But then
again I dont know this is my first so I am
not sure what to expect..

Depends on if you get baby blues or not.
I thought hey i'll be fine and I lost it
after trey came. I did not go back on my
paxil though (i stopped it completely prob
in my 9th month) cause I know how hard it
is to get off of it and I was happy I
finally managed to get off of it. Now
i'm ok.

Really I dont know then cause I have not
been ok. My mood swings are terriable and
they just get worse. Then my cats all had
to be put down and that was really hard on
me so I feel like a big baby. All I have
done for a month is cry cry. Now I lay
awake for the last two nights and wonder
if I have everything ready for the baby.
I cleaned my hole house two days ago and I
am still not satticfide. Lol
