Tonsil Coated White - Worried Posted: 06-13-05 22:48pm
My right tonsil has had this weird white
coated patch for the past week or so. I
feel no pain, but I can feel it there. I
also feel drainage often on the right
side.
Have never had this before and was a bit
worried. I worry a lot, but I was hoping
some of you could put my mind to rest. I
tried scraping it off with my index finger
but no good.
I appreciate any help. :d

Well, usually a white coating on the
tonsils would indicate an infection, like
mono or pharyngitis or tonsillitis. I
would have your dentist or an ent take a
look at it just to be sure, since its only
one tonsil.

Thank you for your information. I tend to
always think the worse when things like
this happen and your theory makes me feel
a little better.

Dealt with that years ago recurring.
Tested for mono several times.
Antibiotics wouldn't work. I actually
had a doc tell me to lower my stress level
& I would get better. I was actually
dealing with thyroiditis or hashimoto's
disease. It is tested by blood work for
thyroid antibodies. Thyroiditis is
actually the body attacking itself, so the
antibodies would show in the blood work.
Hope this is not what you are dealing
with. Just fyi.
Possibilities are nice to know so you
don't have to waste years & go through
a number of patronizing quacks! Hope you
get answers without some fool wanting to
take out your tonsils especially as an
adult.
