Q: Confusing U/s Results

Overview: I had some spotting when I was 4.5 weeks pregnant so I went in
and they scheduled an ultrasound that day. The tech told me everything
looked fine but when I got on the phone with my doctor she said I lost
the baby. She said this off of the grounds because there was no fetus.
Now, with three blood tests done my levels have gone up. They were
taken every 48 hours or so starting at the level 2331 then 3593 then
4991. They claim this to still be abnormal.

Now 5.5 weeks pregnant I have the ultrasound report and i'm confused
with the medical terminology and would greatly appreciate it if someone
could use basic terms for me. The report reads:

"transabdominal and transvaginal scanning shows the uterus to be
midline, anteverted measuring 8 x 4 x 6 cm in size. There is a small
fluid collection in the endometrial canal measuring 5mm. This suggests
a tiny amount of residual fluid post-centrally complete ab. This does
not have the appearance of a normal 5 week gestational sac. There is no
echogenic ring. No products of conception identified. No mass of the
uterus. Both ovaries are normal in appearance with small cysts.
Impression: findings most consistent with an essentially complete ab
with a tiny fluid collection 5mm in size all that is left inside the
uterus"

one I wasn't 5 weeks, I was 4 and a half... But close enough I guess.
I'm not sure what any of it means especially when speaking to the tech
during the procedure she assured me everything looked fine.

Thank you

My suggestion is is to get on the phone, either today or if your dr is on call tonight, call her, if the office is closed and the dr is not on call, call them 1st thing in the a.M. And if the office is open in the morning, and they tell you that they do not have any openings, you go and take the u/s results w/you and you sit there until your dr sees you and believe me, your dr will, I have had to do this before. Keep us informed of what is going on. You can always go to another dr for another opinion as this sounds pretty shakey, might you had been pregnant with twins? I would definitely get a copy of my medical records, which you have a right to.
Sincerely,
sandy
