Type 1 Diabetes And Being Over-weight Posted: 06-17-05 04:54am
I have had type 1 diabetes since november
of 2000. A couple of years later I put on
an immense amount of weight, 30 pounds
atleast. Is there anyway or anything to
take that is safe to help jump start my
fat burning. It's enough having to take
shots every day, I don't want to have to
deal with being obese too. Even though I
have not reached that stand-point I still
would like some advice if anyone has any
out there.

Try exercising, drink lots of water, keep
your blood suagrs under control, make sure
you eat 4-6 meals instead of one or two
"big" meals( if you dont eat enough during
the day your body thinks your trying to
starve it and will store your fat instead
of burning it off), eating more smalller
meals will helps this and will as well
help you blood sugars

Please don't get down and out about this.
I have type 1 diabetes too and I am nobody
special. I am not one of those naturally
thin women and I have struggled with being
overweight all my life. Some years ago I
managed to get myself to a good weight by
medication. Then, a little over a year
ago I was diagnosed with this crazy
disease. (diabetes) now...I don't really
exercise...Unless you call taking care of
3 kids exercise. I don't follow some
special diet...Which is probably not such
a good thing. I am no more active than
most people. I do eat a lot of healthy
things...Just because I like fruits and
veggies. I probably put away more carbs
than a football team. A few months ago I
weighed 113 lbs....At 5'9"...That was what
my mom likes to say....Like being a bag of
bones. Now I am to a good weight and
trying to stay there. You have probably
read that diabetics tend to be
overweight...At least that is what I have
read...But, that isn't the case. Like I
said, i'm nobody special and I don't do
anything special. It is very possible to
have this disease and not be overweight.
I just wanted you to know that if I can
have diabetes and control my weight then
anyone can. You'll find your niche and it
will turn out better than you expected.
