So i've gone from aroprax proxiatine which
gave me night terrors and very very
intense dreams.
Now i'm on mirtazapine which I am
experiencing four sleep paralaysis which
feel like a big seziure! It's frightening
the hell out of me!
Anyone get weird side effects when on
medication? And because it feels like i'm
having a fit I have decided to just stop
taking it!! See how I feel in the next
day.
As i've been on anitdepressants now for a
year so I think it may be time to stop??

....
Hi,
i suffered with sleep paralysis for about
15 years off and on without being on meds.
My first experience happend when I was
about 16 years old and my last episode was
about 6 months ago, I can say that as I
get older, I get less and less sleep
paralysis experiences, which I used to
enjoy. Toward the end, I was able to use
my sleep paralysis experiences to become
stronger, and to understand myself . 95%
of the time, my sleep paralysis
experiences would turn into a lucid dream
sometimes my experiences were scary, but I
trained myself not be afraid of them, I
would just try to relax and think 'i am
not afraid of you, let me see where you
are so I can fight you' thoughts...
One time I had a sleep paralysis episode
that turned into a dream...
I dreamt that I was being chased by a
giant monster through out my house. I
was very scared. But then...I realized
that I was dreaming, and it wasn't
real....I had a choice, I could have
changed my dream. Instead, I decided to
face the #*@!Ing monster. I dreamed up a
giant axe and started hacking the thing to
death. Needless to say, I woke up
empowered and stronger
my advice to you. Repeat several
motivational/empowering mantras thru out
the day, like "i am strong" or "i'm not
afraid of you" or something like that.
Think of this as a 'message in abottle' so
that when you have a sleep paralysis
episode, you have a inner strength to help
you through the scary experiences.
Many times, the scarry experiences are the
stressfull memories you are blocking that
are trying to surface....When you feel
strong enough, try to face these
"monsters" or scarry whispers during your
sleep paralysis episodes, you wil feel
better when waking up
i hope this helps!

Thanks isisimygirl!
I'm going to try out by saying that during
the day see if it makes a difference when
I feel one come on.
However I do remember when I had the first
experience a couple of years ago. I felt
this huge weight start from my toes to my
head and I swear I was actually looking at
myself because I could see myself close up
sleeping. I've always been fasinated
about astro pojection, but I was scarred
at the time and I felt myself slam back
into my body and woke up gasping!
Others I think there is something that i'm
trying to get out of my system.
Hopefully will get less sleep paralysis!

Is sleep paralysis when you wake up and
you cant move your body at all? I think
thats waht it is, and it scares the living
sh*t out of me. I get it even though im
not on any medication and I asked my
doctor why this happens and she said she
didnt know. When I first started getting
this I became an insomniac because I was
very afraid of waking up and not being
able to move, but then I needed sleep so
bad I decided to just face it. After
about a week I got it the paralysis. When
this happened I calmly imagined myself
telling my brain to tell my spine to tell
me legs to tell me feet to wiggle my toes.
I kept sayign that over and over and
eventually I could move my toes. Then
slowly other body parts regained
functionality. I'm ot sure if imagining
what I do actually gets things moving, but
I know it helps a ton with staying calm.

It's also been known as night hag, I have
read heaps about it on the net where some
people see an old woman sit on top to
them!
I think it's due to stress or something is
really needing to get out.
It's been a few weeks now haven't had any
which has been a huge relief.
I feel like lead when it happens.
It's also actually that you've woken from
a dream, your conscous but your body
hasn't caught up yet, thus the feeling of
being unable to move.
It is very bizarre!
