I have been on birth control since before
I ever started my period. Its a long
story but a doctor put me on it for legal
reasons becaues of a medication I was on.
Everytime I come off of the pill I don't
have a period, and at one time I wasnt on
the pill for about 6 or 7 months.
I just stopped taking the pill 2 weeks ago
to see if my body would be normal for
once. I am 16 years old and have yet to
experience a real period, and it kind of
worries me that when I come off of the
pill I do not get a period.
My question is, do I have to wait until I
have a period to start the pill again.
For instance, if I do not get a period in
about 2 months I would like to start
taking the pill again so that I will feel
normal, and also for protection.
Please help!!

First of all, you should really decide
what you want to do and find a type of
birth control that you can stick with.
Getting off then going back on over and
over can have very negative effects on
your body, mood, etc. It's always best
to be consistent no matter what. If you
plan to get off birth control, it may take
your body several months to normalize.
However, I don't believe it matters when
you start taking it. Just use a backup
method for a couple of weeks. Your
period may not be normal for a couple of
months, but you have to start somewhere.
There are benefits to birth control like
having a consistent cycle, but you have to
be consistent with the birth control as
well. After two children and years of
menstrual problems, i've learned that
everyone is different and you may have to
go through several types of birth control
before you find one right for your body.
Good luck.
