Breastfeeding And Birth Control Posted: 06-22-05 14:36pm
I just got back from my doctors and he was
quite useless about my options with birth
control during breastfeeding. He says my
only option, without reducing my breast
milk - is alesse, and i've tried that
stuff before, it and I did not get along.
Are there not any other low estrogen
options? What's this "tri cyclen lo"
i've heard about? Will the normal pill
jeopardize my milk supply that much?
Are there any other options anyone has
tried? If he'll give me a normal pill,
is it okay to try the patch? I don't
want a depo shot since so many of my
friends have bad side-effects from it,
plus it causes major bone loss.
Any input would be appreciated :)

I am a mother of 3. I breastfed all 3 of
my children and took a birth control pill
called "micronor". Its made by the
"ortho" company and is low hormones. I
was so pleased with it the first time that
I used it after the other 2 kids. You
don't want to use a normal pill during
breast feeding. Ask your doctor about
micro-nor. When you are done with breast
feeding you do have to change pills to
something stronger. Hope this helps :)
