Q: 9 Weeks Pregnant!/recent Rubella Shot

Hi

i've just found out this week that i'm 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby. My husband and I are over the moon. We conceived the first month of trying which worries me slightly that everything happened so easily. Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes fine, especially through the first trimester.

The dr's receptionist told me I was 9 weeks but I think she just used one of those internet calendars to work it out. They are based on 28 day cycle which I don't have - mine is more like 40 so i'm not sure 9 weeks is correct. Any comments?

I haven't been to my obgyn yet and am slightly concerned about the fact that I had a rubella shot a few months ago. They told us to wait till june before trying for a baby. We actually conceived some time around beginning of may. Will everything be ok or what are the risks involved?

Would love to hear from any other pregnant ladies. I'm so excited!

Congratulations to you!!!
If your periods are not 28 days then you would not be 9 weeks. They determine how far along you are by the date of your last period. If you don't have a 28 day cycle then you will not be as far along as that because you would not have ovulated on day 14. I don't have regular periods and usually ovulate around day 18 or 19. When I was pregnant, before I miscarried, by the drs calendar I should have been 7 weeks 4 days but the ultrasound only measured me at 6 weeks 1 day. I hope that helps some.
As for the rubella shot, I think you will be fine but you may just want to check with the drs office to ease your mind. They tested me and found out I had antibodies and did not need the shot.
Good luck to you and may god bless you with a great pregnancy.

Thanks for your help.

I know the first day of my last period and had looked at some calendars a few days ago on the internet. There was one where you could change the days to show the true length of your period. Now I can't find it! I think i'm probably about 7 weeks.

Sorry to hear of your miscarriage.

Hey
It is very misleading for those of us who don't have 28 day periods. I am more of a 34-36 day cycle person myself. I knew when the receptionist told be how far along I was, that wasn't correct because I knew I had ovulated on day 18 or 19.
Thanks, me and my hubby are trying again. I wish you the best, it is always such a miracle. God bless.
