I am a 20 year old college student. I am
also a personal fitness trainer. I am a
pretty healthy and active guy. About 2
months ago I became abnormally ill. All
throughout the day I would be extremly
thirsty. More thirsty then i've ever
been in my life. Sometimes it would feel
like I could drink 2 gallons of water and
still crave more. It would be even worse
in the morning. Even though I would be
drinking large amounts of water because I
was so thirsty, I would be using the
bathroom every 2 seconds it seemed like.
On top of this i've been dealing with
muscle weakness (which has subsided a
little), and an abnormal tiredness. I
feel like I can never get enough sleep.
Awaking after sleeping for 9 hours, still
feels like I havent slept in days. I
have a constant naseau feeling. I am
always extremly hungry but feel like I
cant hold any food because fear of
throwing up. I have lost over 20 lbs. In
the past month or so because of all of
this. Its making me very depressed. My
overall well being does not feel right at
all. I do not feel like my old self.
I've gone to the doctor and they ran tests
on my blood for different viruses
including all of the hepatitis's. The
tests came back normal. I am not getting
any better, I feel like my condition is
still the same. I can't even do the
normal activities I was doing 2 months
ago. I'm always tired, thirsty, nauseus,
and everything is described above. Can
someone please help me? Is this signs of
diabetes? I do not know where else to
turn for help.
Sorry you're having such a tough time.
I'mno doctor, but nased on what you
described, I can not believe they did not
check your blood sugar levels. You need
to ask for a fasting glucose test, an
a1c, and a serum insulin level test.
That should tell you if it's diabetes or
not, and what type if it is.
I sincerely hoep it is not diabetes and
there's an easy explanation for you. Let
me know how it turns out. Don't put it
off, do it now.

Get several spot blood glucose tests done,
about 1 hour after eating is a good time,
these should have been done but sometimes
are overlooked, docs can assume that
someone else must have done them
pharmacists will sometimes do them for
free, but make sure your hands are clean
for the drop of blood to be extracted, any
food on the fingers gives a false reading

So I took everyones advice and had every
test in the world done. The doctor
checked my blood sugar level, which was
normal he said. He also did another blood
test to check my ketones, thyroid, and
kidney function..All of those came back
normal.. With all of these symptoms that
I have it seems like I am not getting any
better..This has been going on for almost
two months! What could it be?
