a Few General Hiv Questions
Posted: 06-23-05 14:45pm

Hi, i'm completely new to this web site, so i'll start by saying, how y'all doing??

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to ask a couple of questions that i'd like to know the answers to (no, duh!) so any answers straight away would be muchly appreciated!

First off, I don't really know much about hiv and aids myself, so that's why the answers to these questions might seem a little obvious to some people, I just haven't got a clue. Now I don't think that I am hiv positive, but I don't know that i'm not either. So please, do try to help!

Question #1)

is it possible to tell if you are hiv positive, without going for a health check-up? Also, is it possible that you can be born with it (even if neither of your parents have it)? Or can it even develop somehow over time without anything to start it?

Question #2)

say if it turned out that I am hiv positive (god forbid!), would it be possible that my girlfriend could be infected through oral sex? (i.E. Her performing oral sex on me), because this happened last night, and i've been thinking about the hiv thing for a while. I always use condoms because of the worry of pregnancy, but I never use them during oral sex. I know you can get aids by having sex with someone who is hiv positive, but does it count for oral sex as well?

I'm very worried about this all of a sudden, because it never crossed my mind until last night. I care very much about my girlfriend and I would do anything for her, so I need to know if theres a chance that she could be infected now because of me.

Thank you to anybody who answers this question, I just hope somebody tells me what I want to hear.

Why not get checked out and talk to the dr about all the possibilities as condoms will not stop the spread of hiv and aids. Their are a lot of hand outs and hopefully more info on the internet.
Good luck

Answer: no, no, and no!

Question #2)

Answer: though the risk is minimal and it depends on many cofactors and conditions, you are able to infect your girlfriend through oral sex. However, too many variables need to happen and you must first be hiv positive (but you are not).

Finally, you stated that you always use condoms. Well, I have a favorite saying on this site. If you keep on using the safe behavior which you are practicing, it will snow in miami before you catch hiv.

Why are you so worried about hiv? What risk did you have that places you as a worrier?
