I am a few days late and I took a test yesterday and it was neg. How long should I wait untill I test again if I still don't start. Also is there a "best" time to test?

(we just started ttc.. I hope I am)

Hey how are you?

Well it depends on the time you conceived, the best time to test again would be in about a week or even better and much more accurate, get a blood test done.

First morning urine is the best time to use the test because first morning urine has the highest level of hcg.

Are you sure you haven't miscalculated when your due?

I've done that a couple of times!

It is a possiability that I could have miscalculated.. I will see in a week where I am and take another test if I have not started by the end of next week. If not then will try try again..... Heck the trying is the fun part.

Trying is fun, but you do get disappointed when the results aren't positive. My husband and I have been trying for 5 months - i'm hoping last week was the "lucky" week and I hope that I miss my upcoming period.

Good luck!

Negative... Try Again
Oh well I started this evening... Guess I got all worked up and excited about the possibality of bieng preg. That I made my self a few days late. The good news with that is I can continue to loose weight (got 40 more lbs to go) and hopefully that will help me have a healthier pregnancyy when I do concieve.

Is the bbt the best way to tell if I am ovulating? I have heard that women who are overweight may not ovulate regularly...

Trying And Timing And Ovulation
Hi there - good luck with the trying !!

I've heard good things about ovulation tests, but aparently they are only useful if you use them every month, to try and figure out your usual ovulation day, and then, once you've determined when that is, you aim for just before that day. Apparently, once you get a positive ovulation test, it's usually too late to try for that month- it's already happened.
As far as I know, it's best to have some sperm lying in wait - lurking around the fallopian tubes to "mug" the unsuspecting egg when it is released.

It is also not alway reliable to try around the 14th day before your period.
We decided to try for a bay in december, and I stopped taking the pill in january. I was two weeks late for my period that month, and must've taken a test almost daily !!! I finally did get my period, on feb 12th, and decided I couldn't be bothered counting everthing, and planning sex, and trying to figure it all out. So we stopped actively trying, and just had regular, relaxed sex- and adopted a wait and see attitude.
Naturally, I got pregnant that month!!, but when I had my first ultrasound, it showed that the date of conception was the 18th or 19th of feb- only 6 days after my period began!!!!!! (it was a short, light one, so probably conceived maybe 2 days after my period ended)

if we'd "saved it up" for the extra 8 days 'till you'd normally expect ovulation, we would have missed the boat entirely.

Just do what you're doing, and have fun trying- besides, i've heard that if you have a really intense orgasm, you can ovulate spontainiously. It could be a myth, but it'd be an enjoyable experiment........

El,

congrats.. I am so glad to hear that.

That is pretty much the method we are taking especialy since my husband travels alot. We are actualy putting it kinda off until after october ...My bestfriend is getting married and I am one of the bridesmaids.

I do also want to use the time to try to get my weight down. Better for me and the potential pregnancy.

Special Occasion
Ha,
being happy to wait 'till after a special occasion like a wedding is a sure fire recipe for conceiving immediately- especially if there's some specific outfit you want to be able to fit into !!!!!!!

In fact, now that you've let your body know that (it would have known what you were typing) you'll be pregnant in no time.

I will be missing my cousin's wedding, which I was dying to go to, because my baby is due about 12 days beforehand and it's in new zealand- my friend was thinking about trying for her second, but was putting it off until after a friend's wedding (she is part of the bridal party, and already had her outfit) a week after assuring me she wasn't going to get pregnant until afterwards (dispite my pleas to do it and keep me company !!), she started feeling sick. She is due about two months after the wedding.

This is the natural obstinacy of all things.

Got my fingers crossed for you !!!!! Good luck, and let me know if my theory prooves out !!!
