We Arent All Malicious Child Killers Posted: 06-27-05 11:07am
I'm probably setting myself up for a
complete attack here but maybe some of you
guys might find it helpful to hear why
some women have abortions. Its not all
because we are malicious child killers who
are sl*ts and irresponsible with
contraception!!!
I was in a relationship and had just
brought my first house with my partner. I
used to be on the bcp but I had an
allergic reaction that made me very ill
and I lot alot of blood. I was unable to
go in the injection, implant or even the
coil because they all have a similar type
of hormone and my doctors didnt want to
risk it. I had always been very careful
when it came to contraception, i'm very
body concious and never had sex without
using some form of contraceptive.
I was using condoms when I fell pregnant,
it was a complete shock as I didnt even
know one had split. I'm not by any means
a promiscuous person! I was in a loving
relationship with the man I planned to
marry, after'all we had just brought our
frist house together and I had just made
it to where I needed to be in my career.
When I found out I was pregnant, although
it was a shock, I was happy. I loved my
boyfriend and knew I would start a family
with him some day, just didnt realise it
would be that soon!
As soon as I told my partner my bubble was
burst. He changed and wouldnt kiss me or
touch me, he said that I would be selfish
to have this baby without his consent and
he (in his own words) 'didnt want to
know'. He turned on me and made me feel
very alone, he said we would lose our
house as we were struggling on two
salaries as it was and that he wouldnt
help me. It didnt end there. My family
were also dead against me having the baby.
My dad had recently suffered a heart
attack and I was told if I went ahead with
it the stress could kill him. They also
told me I would lose my house and they
werent prepared to help me.
I begged and pleaded with my boyfriend and
my family, but they went ahead and made
the arrangements for me. They told me my
baby was nothing more than a blob of cells
(even the doctor told me that) and if I
get it done as soon as possible I wouldnt
be killing a baby, it would be a mere blob
of tissue. <- dont get me wrong, I
found out after what a load of cr*p that
was, but at the time my family and my
doctor were my only source of information.
I didnt have access to the internet and
after all, your supposed to trust doctors
arent you?!!!!
I regreted my abortion, it wasnt something
I wanted to do, but I was pushed into a
corner. My dad had been very ill and only
just released from hospital I was
petrefied I would cause him another heart
attack.
Alot of girls are coerced into abortions.
Most pro-life people have that belief
brought up in their family. For those of
you who have, you are very lucky. I
always believed that abortion is ok for
some people, but never me, so it was
horrible that I was forced against my
belief system.
Dont get me wrong, I know I allowed them
to take me to the clinic to have the
procedure and I do blame myself for not
being strong enough to stand up for
myself. I was just being pushed by the
people who I loved the most...Who I now
hate the most.

i'm not to sure but are you the same sarah
that I pm;d to apologise on behalf of pl
as you had some pretty heavy insults flung
at you in the support forum?

Fishx - yep, that was me! I just thought
that maybe if people understand that not
all women say 'whoops, i'm preggas, oh
well will just have an abortion!'. I know
there are some women out there that do
that and I think its very wrong.
I also think it was wrong that I had an
abortion, but I the time it felt like the
only option. It was a devestating and
life changing experience that I would
never wish on abybody.

we do have more understanding than is lead
to believe,it is just that most pro
choicers deny that people like you
exist.According to them no one regrets
abortion and no one is forced into
it,which you are a living example of.You
won't get attacked by pro life but pro
choice might have a problem with what you
said.It goes against everything they say.

Sarah I am sorry to hear how you were
treated, I personally feel you were
bullied into it.
After all you did say you were happy to be
pregnant.
I don't feel you took your path out of
free will.
See my opinion is that abortion is not
birth control. Unfortunately many many
girls and women do not bother with methods
of contraception because they know an
abortion is available should they "get
caught" as it were. In fact most of these
are quite probably the same ones who think
"it'll never happen to me".

Abortion is not birth control...I don't
know where you h=got tha tfrom but it's
not---at all! Birth control is stuff like
condoms, birth control pills, the patch,
diaphrams (they prevent people from
getting pregnant...Where as abortions end
the pregnancies by killing unborn babies
so the mother doesn't have to have them)
which is ignorant.

Fishx - I think i'm doing ok. I still
think about it alot. Mom2trevor gave me a
link to a very good site where there are
alot of women who were in the same shoes
as me and ive found it very helpful.
Ive split up with the abortion father
after 4 years which has helped alot.
There was too much resentment for what he
did. I'm finding it hard with my parents,
but I have many close friends arround me
now and I truely feel I have my head on my
shoulders!
Yes, I still get sad. But I guess thats
something I will just have to live with.

Sarahk, you will be fine, it is not your
fault, you will move on, it will get
easier, we pretty much all do have
negative parts in our pasts.
You are not a bad person!!!!!!
Sincerely,
sandy

Dear sarahk
i thought you had stopped posting messages
and i'm really happy to see you on the
blog again. If I knew how to private
message you I would but I can't figure it
out. Anyway, I want you to know that I
am here in the usa and I think we share
our experience of having an abortion even
though we were happy to be expecting a
baby, and are now living with the regrets.
It is so hard to go on. Just wanted to
let you know that it's nice to see your
letters again.

Hi thumbelina!
Yes, I left for a while because of some
nasty messages I kept getting, but things
seem to have died down now!
There is another forum I have been
visiting that is really interesting and
helped me alot, you may find it useful too
because there are several different forums
about abortion all for women like us.
People who were coerced, seriously
greaving as well as many others. I will
try and pm you the website.
