Is Chlorine good or bad for the skin? Posted: 08-01-03 12:28pm
I've always thought that Chlorine was good
for the skin in that it dries it up, thus
reducing acne traffic. But I've heard
both ways.
Does anyone have the scientific spill?
thanks,
Patrick

sorry, no scientific stuff...but from
personal experience, swimin every so often
i found helped to dry the zits up. but
too much chlorine (as in swimming every
day) actually made the problem worse
because the skin got too dry. i used to
go swimin 1-2 times a week, but
immediately after i got out of the pool
and showered, i put cream on my skin to
prevent from over drying. i found this
worked for me. it was actually my
dermatologist at the time who suggested i
try swiming every so often to help "dry
up" the spots. if i have a big event
coming up, i usually hit the pool once
during the week before...just to dry up
anything that is there, or may be forming.
but, just remember, it IS a chemical....

I think a combination of chlorine and the
sun helps. But that is dangerous too I
guess. I used to go to the tanning bed,
and it would clear up every time.
Swimming and sunning always did too.
