Tell me the difference between atopic dermatitis and cholinergic urticaria if you are so clever. Atopic dermatitis is related with cholinergic urticaria. Word dermatitis covers all allergies, urticarias and skin diseases. So I will give you two more articles who referrs to CU 200 % and you will see that all these things are connected.
1st article:
http ://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=Artic leURL&_udi=B6WH4-4GK1GBP-5&_user=6 18592&_rdoc=1&_fmt=&_orig=sear ch&_sort=d&view=c&_acct=C00003 2778&_version=1&_urlVersion=0& _userid=618592&md5=41fe2b1bb803fac0916 7dd3bff6b0157
in this article is written how you can do various skin tests to check if you are allergic to your own sweats or are not.
2nd article:
http://sciencelinks.jp/j-east/articl e/200705/000020070507A0160871.php
2nd article is only a paragraph about that Japan scientists treated one guy with IMMUNOTHERAPY WITH PARTIALLY PURIFIED SWEAT ANTIGEN, but whole article is in Japan language I can get the article in one library, but what i will do with it.
You like it or not, but CU is connected with sweats.

There is some problems with posting the address where you can get the article, anyway if you can not get the article you can write cholinergic urticaria in this home page: http://www.sciencedirect.com/ and you will find this article under title: Responsiveness to autologous sweat and serum in cholinergic urticaria classifies its clinical subtypes or i can send it to your e-mail.

Don't get so defensive. You posted a paper and stated it was about cholinergic urticaria. It wasn't. I pointed this out.

Hives, Cholinergic Urticaria
Posted: 07-23-08 00:44am

Hi everyone, new here.

I don't know the precise definition of CU, but I have chronic hives for a little over ten years, most often in situations involving heat, irritation of the skin, and stress.
This first appeared on the beard area of my face after shaving, but eventually became problematic on other areas as well, including my chest and back.
Being that this problem has been chronic for such a long time in my life, I've had a long time to experiment with various solutions. My best success has come through controlling my diet (I have found that adhering to a strict macrobiotic diet greatly reduces symptoms) and I am curious to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience. Thanks for any info anyone has to give, I'd love to hear from you.
FYI: To anyone interested, let me just warn you switching to a Macrobiotic diet is not a casual change one makes in their life, it involves dropping a lot of old habits and picking up new ones which may seem bizarre at first. However, I swear by it now, and not just because of the Hives. Thanks again for any input-

Looking for people who need help w/ diet based approach
Posted: 07-25-08 01:24am

Okay, so here's how I figure it. Though I'd like to be able to help everyone who has this problem, that's probably not possible. However, I'm sure I can help some people. So with that in mind, I'm looking for anyone who has suffered from unexplained urticaria for while, and who has some interest in natural foods, vegetarianism or veganism. If you really have the motivation to make some lifestyle changes, I believe I can help you manage your symptoms. If anyone is interested in discussing this then go ahead and reply.

2 months without CU
Posted: 08-16-08 00:01am

I'm so relieved that I've been free from this horrible illness for over 2 months now. I actually got out of my home studies n I registered back into my old High School for my senior year.

Anyways.. I've been going to the gym five times a week every single morning. It feels really good to sweat out all of the bad toxins from my body. This is the reason why I've been free from this CU. I really want to encourage everyone that is suffering with CU to try the sweating method. It's going to be hard at first but it gets easier and easier until it becomes completely painless. The way I recommend to do this is by running in a treadmill first. When the pain goes away after running, going to a sauna will make you sweat even more without any pain.

If you really want to get rid of CU and the pain that comes with it, then use the sweating method. If you keep this up, I'm sure the nightmare will be over. You may think it was easy for me but it wasn't. It was really hard for me..

If you really want this out of your life, "don't make any excuses, just do it".
Good Luck..

Hi guys, suffer from this problem, cant sweat, get red bumps on arms, legs, chest and neck, also get red blotches on my face. I also have abit of eczema which i have prety much gotten rid of, but i still use alot of moisturizer, after my showers morning and night. Do you guys think that me applying moisturizer has anything to do with me not being able to sweat properly? like does the moisturizer block sweat pores or whatever? I am going to try the sweat method, by going on the tread mill followed by the sauna tomorow hopefully, is it alright to use my moisturizer before hand after my shower in the morning like usual before going to the sauna later in the day? please help thanks

CU/ Hives
Posted: 09-01-08 22:18pm

I have had a horrible time with hives in the last two years. I have been under a great amount of disstress. Losing weight, thinning hair, sweating, insomnia, etc. I've noticed a change in body temperature. I actually heat up quickly and this is when the hives are noticable. They target my neck and chest. I get them too when I get out of the shower or use the blowdryer, etc. I was taking extemely hot baths and showers but have stopped after hearing that it wasnt good for hive problems. I can get excited about something or can be riding in my car when its sunny and I will have breakouts. I can get nervous and it will happen. I went to the doctor and ruled out thyroid and menapause. I am being treated for anxiety. Im hoping this will help the hives too. Has anyone ever tried herbs or anything for hive treatment on the internet? Like Histarex?

Hey Cleo. I was hoping you can talk to me about the homeopathic medicines your using for CU. Where can you purchase these products? Do you know anything about acupuncture? Thanks!

Has anyone ever tried hydroxyzine to help control hives? How did it make you feel? Did it work and how soon ?
Thanks!

I have been taking hydroxyzine for hives and the generic brand for buspar for the anxiety and I am beginning to get some relief. I dont heat up like I use to and I havent seen any hives in a few days which is great because I nearly would have them everyday. Especially the heat! The medicine does have a side effect of drowsiness but Im trying to handle that part. I take both kinds of pills three times a day. Hope I can be of help to anyone out there who suffers from CU.

testosterone causing CU
Posted: 09-06-08 22:26pm

Hey guys, I’ve been reading over some of the previous posts and I think I could prove that CU can also be related to a hormonal imbalance from my own experiences. I have a rare condition where I produce little to no testosterone. I am a young male 21 from the UK and I am legally proscribed testosterone to achieve a normal hormone level so I can function healthily and so my bones are protected and do not become weak. I need to be able to take testosterone my life depends on it.

However in taking testosterone I have developed a serious case of CU and I have had continues CU for 2 and a half years where I constantly break out in hives at least 20 times a day. When I stop taking testosterone the hives clear up after a few months and become less but as soon as my testosterone level is raised to a normal male range I suddenly start to have extreme CU attacks. Another side effect I am also experiencing is heat, right before I have a CU attack my body becomes very warm and then I break out, does this happen to anyone else?

I find it ironic that the one thing that could save my life is also the one thing ruining my life and making me want to give up, but I’m not here to complain. I have tried various anti histamines and none have been successful, I also believe they only mask the problem rather then help.

I wonder if anyone can shed some light as to why testosterone seems to be the cause? I am not over dosing on my testosterone, I am taking a small amount to give me a normal hormone range but still my body seems to react whenever my testosterone level goes higher.

Unfortunately stopping hormonal treatment isn’t an option for me. Like I said before I need to take the testosterone so I can lead a normal life.

I would appreciate any advice.

Testosterone is long suspected to be an immunosuppresant meaning it can dampen some aspects of the immune system. The mechanism is debated but it seems to be accepted by a large number in the medical community. As CU is due to high levels of IgE which is part of the immune system, this may be a reason why taking testosterone may lead to your CU outbreaks.
