God, do I know how you feel !!!
I have 2 prolapsed (slipped) disks in my lower back, and a sacroilliac joint disfunction. It's an absolute joy let me tell you.
Even if you don't have a previous injury, or history of back pain, it's pretty common to experience some in pregnancy.
There is a hormone called relaxin, which is produced by the body during pregnancy, which loosens your joints and ligaments to make it easier to give birth.
This make you more prone to injury, as you don't have the same stability as when you are not prganat- so you have to be very careful about your posture, and physical activity.
The problems can get worse later, when the baby is heavier, as this put's even more pressure on your back.
It is importnat-especially if you are already experiencing some pain- to maintain good posture- try and remember all the time- and also to use your stomach muscles to hold the baby up and in. Use the lower and middle abdonminal muscles like a girdle- don't suck in, just tense the muscles, and pull them in towards your spine.-ask your doctor about it, or look up some pregnancy posture tips. Pilates type breathing and posture and pelvic floor exercises will help too.
Whatever you do, don't arch your back and let your tummy stick out in front- this is the absolute worst thing you can do. It feels natural when you are pregnant to kind of throw your tummy out ( i'm sure you've seen preganant women waddling around lik they are being led by their babies!!!!), but really try to remember to stand straight. It ill save you a lot of pain and discomfort, and will also prevent your stomach muscles from stretching out further than they need to.
