Cant Cope With Panic Attacks Anymore, Help!!!! Posted: 07-04-05 04:50am
Can anyone give me advise, I have suffered
with panic attacks for 5 years and it
started just after I had my son, I wake up
worrying, im scared to go to bed, I cant
go shopping and soon I dont think ill
leave the house. I get this burst of
anxiety then the sweats, then this numb
feeling in my right arm and leg, so then I
start to hyperventilate, collapse on the
floor with my eyes rolling in my head. I
visited my doctor as im phsically and
mentally exhausted, and all she said was
there is no magic pill, well from then on
im now feeling suicidal, I cant cope
anymore, my life is not worth living, I
cant do or go anywhere. And whats even
worse is that my husband is now getting
the same symptoms, I feel like im ruining
his life. What the hell is the answer.
Please help!!!!!

Your Not On Your Own Posted: 07-04-05 05:49am
I have had similiar experiences with
panics, and also know the affects this can
have in the relationship! Your not on
your own!
I am struggling with this also and I am
trying to relearn to relax, I am
overweight also and find it hard to be
social! So relearning to relax is hard.
I found a friend who will not judge me
(weight/confidence) and I have been
swimming! I believe swimming is all about
breathing control, and from what I can
gather when we panic we activate a fight
or flight response and we pick how we
respond. U are flighting! Go swim and u
have to face fight or flight! You
obviously love your husband very much, and
he u!, u can do this together!
Small steps! We can do this! Iwant to
share a quote with u,
"if the diver thought of the shark, he
would never lay hands on the pearl".
Thanks, anthony

I cant bear the thought of swimming, I had
a panic attack in the pool whilst swimming
with my mum it scared the life out of her
as she thought I was gonna drown while I
was hyperventilating in the pool, I cant
get to grips with mind control, no matter
how much I try to convince myself that its
a ll in my head the horrible feeling takes
over and im to exausted to fight it

To katrina
theres lots of info about panic attacks
and how to overcome them on the net
to avoid hyperventilating, stop breathing
for a while then breathe deep and slow,
you wont pass out from a panic attack but
you can pass out from hyperventilating
dont let the panic attacks scare you as
they arent harmful
any valium type meds will help a lot and
are used by psychiatrists who specialise
in panic attacks as their first choice,
will the doc give you any, some wont.

docs said theres no magic pill, so im on
my own with this, if you say you suffer
anxiety they help but one word of a panic
attack and they dont want to no, they make
you feel like your lying or your a
hypercondriac, I will try to sort this
out, its just taking so long

Find another doc who will take your
problems seriously, panic attacks arent a
sign of mental illness and dont lead to
anything worse
valium, prescribed and taken sensibly, can
be a magic pill

Help Can Be Found! Posted: 07-06-05 04:44am
I must agree with the rest of the bunch;
see another doctor, get a second opinion.
Anxiety, panic attacs and depression is
still a new topic for a lot of doctors,
and some of them believe it's all in your
head. It is ofcourse, all in your head,
but that doesn't mean you're creating them
all by yourself. There are so many people
suffering from anxiety attacks, myself
included, that working through this isn't
all that hard, allthough it takes a lot
from you. But once you start facing your
fears, you will begin to see light at the
end of this loooong black tunnel. I
suggest, and highly recomend talking to a
professianal about this (clearly not your
present doctor), prefearably a
psychologist! But believe me when I say:
it needn't be like this!!!
