Stopped Pill And Missed Period Posted: 07-04-05 18:58pm
Hi
i was on pill for last 4 months. While I
was on pill I had my 28 days menstrual
cycle quite regularly. As per my
husband's advise, I wanted to take a break
from pill for one month. Hence I stopped
taking pill last month. Since then we had
unprotected sex few times. But my husband
used to withdraw just before
ejaculation.
Now my period was due for 07/02..But I
have not got my period yet..Its already 3
days late. I had at-home pregnancy test
with two different brands (e.P.T and first
resp) and all of them showed negative
result.
What could be the possible reason?? Any
answer will relieve my stress..
Thanks& rgds

Were your periods regular before you got
on the pill? Some women do get pregnant
right after stopping the pill because your
body wants to ovulate immediately. I got
pregnant right after I stopped the pill
(unfortunatley I miscarried), and my
sister in law got pregnant as well, but
her pregnancy if progressing just fine.
You could be pregnant now, but you may be
like some women who do not get a positive
hpt until days or even weeks after their
missed period. I would try to retest
with you first morning urine in several
days. If your period does not show up in
a week and you still have no positive hpt
I would call your Dr. So they can do a
blood test or give you prometrium, so you
can start your period.

Hi
thanks for your prompt reply.
Yes I used to have regular period
cycle...Most of the times 30 days....
But interstingly I have been getting the
symptoms of getitng the period for last
3-4 days...Like few small pimples on my
face, mild lower abdominial pain, cramps
in my legs.....I am feeling like getting
period any moment but not getting...
As per your suggestion, I will be having a
hpt with my first morning urine...Lets see
what comes out....
But I am not having any symptoms of
pregnancy like naussea, vomiting,frequent
urination etc.....

Usually you don't have a lot of symptoms
until like your 6th week. So if you are
this would be your 4th week. Normally if
you ovulated you might have ovulated about
14 days ago. So if you had unprotect sex
then, you might be pregnant. Also, since
you were on the pills for a while you
might not be ovulating yet, and might skip
a cycle. Your period starts 14 days
after you ovulate, if you are not
pregnant. What kind of pills were you
on? And have you read any side effects on
them?

Yes I was taking triquilar (german
remedies ltd). Yes I had read side
effects....But did not help me much.
I had read somewhere that stopping the
pill might delay the period...Actually I
dont want a baby now...I am going to visit
a doctor day..Lets hope for the best....

The first month I gave up the pill (we
were trying for our 2nd baby) I waited 6
weeks for a period. I was sure I was
pregnant, but I wasn't.
It can take your body a little while to
get back to normal after stpooing the
pill, mind you, I got pregnant the next
month, so although your periods might not
be regular yet, you may still ovulate, so
if you don't want a baby, you should be
very careful about using alternate
protection. Also- don't rely on timing
sex for "safe" times of the month- if you
have just come off the pill, your
ovulation might be iregular too and might
not be when you would normally expect to
be- I concieved two days after the period
that took 6 weeks to come ended, according
to the theory of ovulating 14 days before
a period, I should have ovulated more than
11 days later.
You may even ovulate more than once in a
cycle.
