Q: Hpt Test/irregular Periods?

Hi girls, I was just wondering how soon a hpt test would work, as I have really irregular periods, I am not sure if I am going to miss it or not.. Here goes my issue  I ended my period on or about june 13, then again on june 23 it came back (this has never happened before) it was really heavy for 2 days then just stopped, since then I have been having really heavy discharge, my boobs and nipples have been extremely tender (this is also strange, I usually cant feel much in my nipples) and I noticed some pronounced veins going through my boobs that I am just not sure if they were there before or not. If I go by a 28 day cycle then I should be starting my period tomorrow, but my periods havn't been regular, and this is the first month I have been off of b/c as my husband and I are trying to conceive.

I guess my question is should I take a hpt test tomorrow if my period doesn't come or should I wait, and if so how long :?: I just don't want to take it and get a negative.

Were you regular while you were on your pills. And did you stop your pills in mid cycle? Since the pills pretty much regulate your cycle once you stop them you will get a very short period, even after you just had one. I found this out because I stopped them mid cycle once and several days later had a period. My sister in law stopped them mid cycle too and ended up concieving 14 days later. If the short period was over 28 days ago, you should be able to test now and if you are get a positive.

Thanks so much for your imput, I didn't stop the pills mid cycle, but that doesn't mean that that still can't happen right? Anyway, I will have to wait a week or so for my short period to reach 28 days assuming that's the one that I am to go by?? I hate all this waiting....

Anyway thanks again.

I got pregnant on the pill, and I was religous about taking it.

It's hard to say with a hpt- usually, the longest it would take to show a positive result would be three weeks after conception- depnding on how sensitive the test is. Usually they say if you get a negative result when you are a week late for your period, you are almost certainly not pregnant, and should see a doctor to find out where your period has gottten to.
So, if you wait for about 3 and a half weeks from the time you had sex- it should be pretty accurate.
If you wanted to be more confident in the result, or your not sure about exact date- go to a doctor, and ask for a blood test. You could probably do this now, and not wait any longer to find out. He'd also tell you what to do if it comes back negative, and you still have no period-or if it comes back positive, discuss your options.
Good luck. :)

I thought the same thing, that it might have been implantation bleeding, but I heard that it is supposed to be really light - almost spotting?? This was the heaviest it has ever been for a day, then tapered off the next day. -- so confused -- so so confused...
