Bleeding After Total Hysterectomy Posted: 07-09-05 09:09am


Hi, I am about 12 days post op total abdominal hysterectomy. I have bleeding bright red blood like a normal period for about 5 days. Upon leaving the hospital the rn told me to call right away with any vaginal bleeding. Called the office and both the doctor that did the surgery and his partner the next day poo-pooed it. Anyone out there experience alot of bleeding afterwards?????

Yes. I have started bleeding 4 months after my surgery. I started doing research online, every where it talks about that you may bleed a little anywhere from after your surgery to 6 weeks. Although it also states that you may have other problems and should see your obgyn just to make sure that it is not anything else. Right now that is what I going through, I am hearing my obgyn telling me this is normal and my family Dr. Tell me that its not. I would get a 2nd opinion, just so that you really know. Remember you know your own body. Everyone is different.
