When I woke up this morning I felt a small
bump right beside my left ear. I moved my
jaw around a bit and found that it was
right at the joint. It is also tender
when I touch it. When I open my jaw it
feels like the lump spreads out, and its
abit painful. It's not painful unless
itouch it. Could my jaw be dislocated or
something? To my recollection I havent
hit my face or jaw on anything lately, the
only thing I could think of it yawning too
wide. I figured though if it was broken
or dislocated I would be in a lot more
pain and wouldnt be able to move it.
Could I have a bone infection? Is this
something I should see my doctor about
right away, or wait a couple of days to
see what happens?

Now that I think of it, it is probably an
infection. On the same side I have a
wisdom tooth coming in that has been very
slowly poking through. I also wear a
retainer at night which isnt always clean.
Also I have been swimming at a public
pool the past couple of days and I always
get water in my ears. Could these be
causes of a jaw infection? What are some
of the symptom? What would the doctor do
to treat it?
