Q: Help Please! Pregnant? But On Pill :(

Hi, im 19 years old and have been on the pill for a month and a half. Im very confused though as I started the pill in the middle of the month, two weeks before my regular period would be due... I just read on here that if you do that you should use another form of contraception for 7 days, but I didnt know this and didnt do it.

Can you tell me if its possible to get pregnant because of this, and if I am will I still bleed during my seven days off the pill? Also if I take a regular pregnancy test from a store, will it work or will it be affected by the hormones in my body as a result of the contraceptive pill?

I would really appreciate some help! Thankyou xxx

okay first of all yes you can get pregnant, even if you use the pill properly (don't forget days, etc). People who are pregnant often experiance light bleeding that can be misstaken for a period, when it actually is only spotting. You can take a preg. Test from the pharmacy (drug store, super market, etc) and it will not be affected by the hormones from the hpt (home pregnanct test).

If it does come out positive you should make an appointment with a doc as soon as possible and he will confirm if you are pregnant or not (either with a blood sample or a urine sample) if the test comes out negative wait a week and try again.

Good luck hun, if you have anymore questions let me know!
