Nongonococcal Urethritis
Posted: 07-15-05 09:09am

I recently had some burning upon urination and some white discharge from my penis. I am in a monogamous relationship, but I figured I better get it checked out. The doctor ran tests for chlamydia and gonnorhea, but they came back negative, and he said I have a urethral infection -- possibly sexually transmitted -- called "nongonococcal urethritis" he has given me some antibiotics. I'm not sure how to approach the subject with my partner, since she should probably be treated too.

The only thing I can think of, besides the unthinkable :( , is that a week or so ago we went to a "natural" hot spring cut into the side of a mountain in the wilderness. There was a lot of scum on the rocks, and the temperature was pretty warm -- is there a chance that I could have gotten a bacterial infection in that pool? It is odd that the symptoms occured about 3 or 4 days after we returned from our little trip.

I'm confused, and I don't want to make any unfounded accusations. Can someone give me some feedback?
