I Don't Know About It
Posted: 07-15-05 10:28am

Being a male, I don't know if I have a right to an opinion on this subject. I'm very lucky that I will never be in a situation like that. I'm sure it's a hard dessision, not something people go out and do.

Is it true that clinics give away free condoms? I do believe that is a good idea. Granted condoms don't work 100% of the time, but it's much better than nothing. They'll also save you from std's.

Anyway, I don't want to get too deep in this subject. My parents always tell me that it's hard to make friends with politics. I don't want people to hate me just because my political views, not for who I really am as a person.

Thanks

People on the far right try to make it seem like pro choicers have abortions for the fun of it. However my neighbor had an abortion and she said she had one baby before who died weeks after birth in a very painful way. Then the protection broke and she got pregnant again. Her bf ran away when he found out. The doctor said this baby too would die a painful death weeks after birth.

I don't think anyone has an abortion just for the fun of it. I would imagine that would be a costly, and painfuly way to have fun.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I would imagine most abortions happen for a reason. To save the mother's life if she's in a situation were she could die if she goes through with it. Or if the baby will die right after birth. Or maybe because the baby would live a horrible life because the parents have no money. I don't know.

I'm not for it or against it, I guess i'm still on the boarder line here.

The border line is a good place to be it kind of makes you feel non-judgemental.
Just because you are a guy does not mean you are not welcome here, the welcome mat is here for you. So welcome phillycheesehead, I am sandy.
I am pro-choice because I believe in giving a pregnant female who is carrying a fetus because it is not classified a baby until birth a choice in the matter because I am not living in her shoes and I have no right to judge what is going on with her life, so therefore she sshould ha a choice to carry it until term, adopt it out or abort it and I am not 100% for abortion either. I just feel that their are too many kids that are brought out into this world that are not taken care of not loved and it is very sad!

I used to think far right. About a year ago I started to think far left. I'm in the middle right now.

I do actually like being in the middle. It is much easier to make friends for me. Republican and democrat friends.

I've been doing tons of research on the subject the last couple of days. I'm still middle of the road. Now, i'll admit only a few weeks ago I was 110% against it. After knowing the facts I realized it's just like anything in life, in that it has both pros and cons.

Now say I was like 28, married, and we were both as healthy as can be, and had jobs that payed well. I wouldn't see an abortion being right in that situation. I mean, unless if there were certain situations that came up, like the mother would pass away if she went through with it, or the baby would pass away right after birth. Which don't get me wrong, that's not uncommon. I would think the father should have some consent on the issue, if he didn't cowardly runaway when he heard the news.

But back to reality, i'm non of those things. I'm 16, single, and have no job at all....Luckily for me I also don't have a situation like that either. But when I was doing my research the last couple days, many kids my age said they didn't plan to be in that situation. But this health class I took freshman year of high school scared the heck out of me with aids, gonereia, and such. Rubber can break, and until i'm married I plan to err on the safe side. I know it'll be easier said that done, but if you can believe then you can acheive.

Anyways, you may be asking why I havn't made up my mind yet? Well I think both sides seemed to be too passionate for my liking. Maybe the are passionate because they have been in situations that I have never dreamed of being in. I have never once held a baby in my arms. I'm the youngest siblings, and my cousins, ect.

The closet thing to a baby I have held in my arms is my puppy that we adopted in sept 2004. It was fun to watch her grow, and play with our cat. But she's a ton of responsibility. I had adult dogs when I was younger. We adopted them when they were adults and already trained. So when I heard that a dog is a good responsibility lesson to children I thought that ment feeding them, taking them outside, and cleaning up. Then when I raised a puppy from strach it all changed. First you have to potty train them so they actually go outside! Then you teach them how to be polite around guests. Teaching her she can play with the cat, but not that ruff! Teaching her how to walk on a leash, the list goes on. I do believe I have done a fairly good job of training her. I wouldn't say she has made a 180 degree turn yet, but maybe a 165 degree turn, and she's getting there....But then again a baby would be just as hard as my puppy....Only x10.

I thank god every day that i'm in a tuff situation like that. The hardest situation i've made in my life was which cd I should buy...Then as my luck would have it I walked out of the store (which doesn't allow returns on cds) I wished I would have put the $15 in a college found.

I don't judge on this subject. I realize people would see someone walking into a clinic and judge them knowing nothing about them, except seeing them there. Anyway, for those who judge I protest by not judging. Don't want to start an argument with anyone. If I see someone judging someone else over it i'll just do my part and not get involved. Has arguing over this subject since '72(?) actually changed anyones mind?

I do apologize for all the spelling errors. It's about 5am here, and I still have this nasty cold.

I also apologize for taking up all your time just to find out i'm in the middle of the road. I just thought writting this all down would be a great way to straighten out my thoughts. Anyways, thanks taking the time to read this!

what you should be asking is:
"what was your non-selfish reason for having a child"?

Because I became pregnant with my son who I loved from day 1 and due to the fact I have a sane mind and a heart, abortion was not an option. I now have a 3 month old son whom I love very much, and my life has never been better.
Thanks for asking.
so having a child because you want to isn't selfish?

Or is it only non-selfish to have children and selfish to seek an abortion?

I don't like women getting abortions for just any reason either but if you're going to call them selfish, then you should look at all childbearing decisions equally, shouldn't you? Some people do decide to have children for "selfish" reasons. To see what they would look like, to carry on the family name, just because, and the biggest reason, one I chose myself - because I wanted to. Selfishness is choosing something for yourself over teh feelings of others. I chose to keep my pregnancy and my son because I wanted to and I chose without considering everyone elses wishes (i did ask my boyfriend who wasn't thrilled at first but despite whatever he said I still would have kept my pregnancy). I don't think it could get anymore selfish than that.
