Genetic Testing
I believe they are talking about getting an amniocentisis--dont know how to spell it. It is painful, they go with very long needle and draw out fluid from the amnionic sac.
I believe it can be very dangerous--you don't have to have it!!!
Checks for down's syndrome and things like that. Why do they think you need it??

There are so many false positives, and there are slim risks involved. Maybe if they had reason to believe I was at risk.

The Dr. Doesnt think I need it, he just asked if I wanted it and I said sure, but he said the chances of the baby having down syndrome or something is really slim...Its like 1 out of 250,000 women or some number like that.

Genetic Testing
Yea, I dont know if they are talking about the amnio or not, maybe they are just talking about aome kind of blood test they do now. I know when I was young the only way to find down's syndrome and things like that was the "amniocentesis" (don't know how to spell it) but I myself would never let them put a hugh needle into my body--and that close to my baby!!?? No way
what did the doc tell you it was?? Did they tell you what they were going to do??

Sorry if I worry you

Yea the genetic testing im talkin about is the amniocentesis and I dont really think im going to do it ne more. I didnt know they could really cause misscarriages. He said some women want the test to make sure their baby doesnt have down syndrome and some dont want it cuz they wouldnt do ne thing different if it did have the down syndrome. Its just scarey to think the baby could have syndrome :s but I really dont think he\she has it. Thanx a lot for ur relpys! I appreciate it! :)
