I think the best way out of that paranoia is to make one friend, a really close friend over time, and then go to dances and bars with them and their friends. If you just have one person you trust a little with you, you'll be able to enjoy yourself much more and feel safer.

Frustrated...
Posted: 07-21-05 15:01pm

Today I got out of the house and it feels that I don't know nymore how to act around people and it is really frustrating .I've got the weird impressoin that they want or expect somethig of me....Today I wasn't depressed but after I came home I started thinking and got really depressed and nervous and started yelling at my mother that had no clue what was going on.This doesn't happen all the time whe I get out but sometimes it does and it's frustrating .It feels like I can't really connect with the others ,like whatever I do is wrong, before I didn't have any problems getting on the same frequancy with other people.Someone else can relate?

With schizophrenia what happens is as you and your friends get older us "normal" people will start using words where we imply meanings and how we really feel while the actual words we use do mean something else. Usually what happens is it will continue to get more and more confusing for the schizophrenic, because you will see that almost all us normal people use deciet. Society has not understood that it is our deceptions wich create "schizophrenia". Maybe try reading my earlier posting step 1 and tell me how you feel.

Yes I do think like that but I guess that people with schizophrenia are just at another level of conciuosness lower or higher ,i don't know but i'm thinking right now that maby I should accept the ideea of psychotherapy maby that will work anyway for this anti-social phobia that I think I have.

What part of the world are you from? I live in canada and we have begun to help people. If you can come, we would be happy to help you. As you have probably noticed most people really do not get what the sz is dealing with. If you are underage you could bring a parent. If you want you can e-mail at glenhunki @yahoo.Ca (for anyone). If there are any questions just write or post. Thanks glen

Here in my country not even doctors can understand people that have mental deaseases so I don't expect other people to understand me.Anyways my current doctor is a very good one and understands me and understands that this is a deasease that requires a lot of pation from the others.

Unfortunately it is not just in your country, it is everywhere that sz is misunderstood. The most important thing is to try to deal with problems as they happen so the stress does not build up. It is important to realize that almost all of us "normal" people do not have bad intentions, sz is just very misunderstood. Be patient with others, and they will learn to be patient with you. It sounds like you and your mom are close, ask her to always be truthfull with you and to explain what she means until you can tell her it back in your own words, then you will not have misunderstandings. I will continue to watch message board. Peace.

I understand that youhave some knowledge in this matter and I want to ask you smth that's been bothering me :how do you tell someone that you have a mental disorder?A friend or a boyfriend cause I find it very hard to talk to other people.
Maby I should have started a new topic for the others to read too.
Thanks

I dont think you have to label it. I think just be honest and tell the good people you choose to spend time with that you are very sensitive and creative, and to treat you with honesty and gentleness, and you will get the most and be able to give the most in relationships based on that. I hope that helps.

The kind of person who makes anyone a good friend is someone who just wants you to be yourself. Do not feel you have to act or speak differently, just choose to be around good people. If someone makes you feel bad, don't be angry with them or yourself. If you were meaning well, and take the time to explain (even if it seems obvious to you), and allow others the same chance to explain by asking nicely, you will find that will eliminate most problems. Peace.

I can't socialize I don't know what is wrong with me.I feel that people always want me to say something and whatever I say it's wrong. Even with my thoughts is the same .I'd just like it to be like before when I used to be the center of attention and not now when i'm trying not to be noticed at all.Mostly I stay in but sometimes I go out with my friends but it's not like before.Idon't know how to deal with this.Any ideeas?

You have a hard time socializing because you can't relate. It's that simple.
