Chlamydia - Accurate Advice Needed! Posted: 07-17-05 07:05am
A couple of months ago I was experiencing
burning when urinating and went for a
urine test (03/23) which showed I had a
urine infection. I went to the doc and it
persisted for some time, but finally
cleared up.
I also experienced some other symptoms,
like pain in my penis, testicles and
epididimis. I went for a blood test for
hiv, hsv I and ii, vdrl, tphl and
chlamydia iga and igg. Everything came
back negative except for the chlamydia igg
which showed a ru/ml of 57.8. The iga
result was 0.5 (negative result).
I took a 1.5 gram dose of zithromax (6
250mg tablets).
Doc said not to worry and get a blood test
in a few months. Howevder I was still
experiencing pain in my penis (shaft),
testicles and epididimis. A subsequent
blood test showed an igg of 41.5 ru/ml
(still way above the <20 ru/ml, which
is a negative result).
Doc booked me to see the urologist. I
showed him all the test results and told
him my symptoms. He sent me for an
ultrasound on my testicles which showed I
had a epididimal cyst on the right. He
said the zithromax I took was sufficient
to cure the chlamydia, the igg result
would slowly decline over time, I was not
infectious (not able to pass the chlamydia
onto my gf), and said the cyst was a
result of the urine infection backtracking
into the epididimis. He said it might
cause some pain as it was extra weight on
the epididimis. He said it would remain
there, unless surgery was necessary to
remove it, which was unlikely, and could
cause sterility.
So, my question is, why am I still
experiencing pain in my testicles, penis,
and epididimis? I went for a blood test
last week (7/12) which showed an igg of 44
ru/ml, a higher result than previously.
The doc at the blood clinic said the count
can rise and fall like a wave.
I'm a bit confused. What's going on?
Should I go back to the doc, take more
zithromax, see the urologist again, check
for other diseases?
Hopefully you can answer my questions.
I'm in taiwan and it's difficult to get an
accurate diagnosis/prognosis, as you have
to go from the gp to the blood clinic to
the hospital (urologist), with each one
giving you a different answer..
