Can't Keep Anything Down Please Help Posted: 07-19-05 11:54am
I do not know what to do, I need to find
help for my friend. She is so sick. Her
name is tmoney and she has a trouble
keeping food down. For the last year she
has been sick with something that doctors
are unclear on. Ever time she eats, she
throws up. Including water or evenn just
the flavor from chewing on gum. If she
eats a complete meal she will spend 2 hour
throwing up a little bit at a time. She
had her gallbladder removed after finding
out that it was working at a 8 percent.
It helped at first, but a couple months
later she was completly back to her
normal, abnormal self. She has had every
test known, and nothing is found. Her
doctors have given up, and she is losing
hope that she will ever be better again.
So please if you have heard for anything
like this or know someone who has share
with me and her what we can do next.

Your friend may want to have a gastro
doctor check for achalasia. I am not an
expert on health, but I suffered similar
symptoms for five months. I would throw
up everything I ate (at the end I also
could not keep down any liquids). They
also had done rounds of tests and told me
that I must be bulimic. A doctor finally
discovered I had achalasia.
Achalasia is a problem with the upper
digestive system and the upper sphincter
in the throat that will not allow any food
to pass to the stomach. In my experience
I did not feel ill I just threw up
everything I ate. I also felt like food
got stuck mid-way down my chest and then I
would throw up.
I don't know if this is her problem, but
it's a rare disorder with the symptoms
you're describing.
I hope she figures it out soon!

I get sick everytime I eat and when I am
not eating it still hurts just not as bad
as when I am eating. I also had my
gallbladder out because it was not
working. I went to a specialist who had
a test performed where you eat a
radioactive egg salad sandwhich (yum..Can
you feel the sarcasm?) and I was diagnosed
with a stomach that does not empty
properly. They have medications that can
help stimulate this but they have some
terrible side effects. This may be
something she would want to talk to her
doctor about.
