Factor 5 Leiden Deficiency
Posted: 07-20-05 03:16am

I have had two miscarriages since I have been married, our one year anniversary is sunday. My obgyn ran some tests and found out that I have factor 5 leiden deficiency. He told me that the next time I get pregnant that I would have to take two shots of coumadin everyday to keep the blood clots from killing the baby. Every website I have been to has said not to take coumadin while you are pregnant...Any advice.

Hoping for that real love that only comes from your own child,
ashley

I've never heard of that. But I take coumadon and they said to make sure I don't get pregnant.

Please check out this website = drugs.Com and look under coumadin. It says not to take if you are pregnant or may become pregnant because it can cause birth defects. So please consult with you doc again and let them know what it says. It is under the fda pregnancy catagory x. Hope this helps.
