Headaches For 4 Months - Aneurysm? Posted: 07-20-05 04:56am
Hi,
how common is it for a 15 yo to have a
brain aneurysm? I have been having
headaches for about 4 months now every
single hour of each day. This is my
biggest worry now. Is this what it could
be? I have had a blood test and a ct scan
but they showed up fine. I dont have to
pay for any of these tests either because
in the uk we have the nhs, which is
already funded. So should I go back to
the hospital and ask for more tests??

Headaches with aneurysms are sudden and
severe. Your headaches have lasted long
enough that it is really unlikely that
it's an aneurysm. They re-clot and
re-rupture in less than a week and
symptoms progress quickly. Within a
couple of weeks, you would be near
comatose or worse.
That said, it's not uncommon for headache
problems to start suddenly without an
obvious cause. You should try to get a
diagnosis for your headaches and then
treat them accordingly. In 90% of cases,
headaches are either migraine or tension.
There are many ways to treat such
headaches.
Headaches are scary, but rarely signs of
serious problems in the brain. Take
care.

Thanks v much for the reply kerrie, I have
an appointment to see a paeditrician on
monday so I will see if I can get some
answers off him. At 15 years old aswell
an aneurysm is rare I would have thought?
I know I dont have a brain tumour either
because I have had a ct scan. My
consultant did say that he thought that it
was a tension headache but they have to be
chronic.
