Hubby just started scuba diving n has trouble getting his ears to pop what up

I am an audiologist in the uk. This sounds like potentially dysfunctional eustachian tubes.(the tubes that connect the ears to the throat.)visit an ear specialist(audiologist or gp) where a simple pressure test can confirm whether or not this is the case. If confirmed it may improve spontaneously or with the help of decongestants all the best
