I Can't Poop Right - Help Me Please Posted: 07-21-05 09:24am
This same problem happened to me last
year, and persisted for about a week
before it disappeared. Currently, this
problem has been on going for 4 days
now.
Imo, there seems to be some kind of
blockage in my intestine or stomach b/c
whenever I eat or drink something, even
very little, my stomach gets very full and
bloated. I haven't taken a soild poop
in a few days, its just liquidy or a very
skinny poop, loosely clumped together and
mucousy; not a big regular one like i'm
used to. From looking at my poop (very
light in color) it looks like my food is
not getting properly digested. My
lower abdomen gets very bloated and full
of gas. My lower back started hurting
me b/c of this bloating. I have very
smelly gas as well.
I am a very healthy person and gets plenty
of fiber and drink lots of water and
usually go to the bathroom 3 times per day
on a regular basis. This all started
happening after a night that I got really
drunk and the next day I didn't go to the
bathroom or eat much.
I have been taking a psyllium husk
supplement to try to flush out whatever is
in there, but I there is still something
wrong. I just filled clogged up, not
constipated, but clogged up in my
intestine or something. I also resorted
to giving myself an enema but this did
nothing besides flush some poop out.
What is wrong with me?? Your help is
extremely appreciated. I am happy to
answer any of your questions. I am an
avid body builder and this is inhibiting
me from my proper diet. Thanks!!

There are several things that this can be
and none of them very good.
Your best bet is to go to a doc and let
him do some tests. Most of the things you
have already tried should have made a
difference. Because it never did, you
better get professional help.

Same Symptoms Posted: 03-03-06 19:07pm
I'm not a body builder, but I workout
regularly, I have had the exact same
symptoms as you. I can't confirm that
these symptoms arose due to a night of
binge drinking, although I have had a few
of those. I have the gas (although it is
not always foul smelling) and the
distended lower abdomen. I have also
noticed what appears to be undigested
foodstuffs in my stool, particularly
grapefruit which I eat everyday. I also
take a protein supplement which mixes with
water.
I told my doctor of my symptoms and he
said that it was probably hemmoroids,
which it wasn't, for the simple fact that
I have never had them. I didn't hurt to
have a bm, it felt like I was pushing my
stool through a penne pasta maker. The
symptoms persisted and my doctor said that
sometimes there is an involuntary
tightening of the inner anal sphincter,
which would restrict the size of the
stool.
This seemed feasible except I have had
movements of what would be a relatively
regular shaped and sized 'log', however it
consists of a continuous pencil thin
stool folded in upon itself, which would
suggest to me that the restriction occurs
before the anal sphincters. The diameter
of the my stool, when solid, varies from
pencil thin to about an inch, and is never
completed round.
I had an analoscopy, (not as deep as a
colonoscopy) and it revealed nothing. I
also experience constant fatigue. As for
the undigested foodstuffs, for about a
year I took digestive enzymes and that
seemed to lessen the occurence, although I
have since stopped because I am afraid
that they may be masking an underlying
problem. The bloating and stool
restriction never stopped during the time
I was on digestive enzymes, although I did
seem to have a bit more energy while
taking them.
If you have learned anything from your
doctor visits, please let me know.

Same Sypmtoms, Can't Poop Right Posted: 08-12-07 11:13am
I have suffered similarly over the last 11
months. Symptoms are almost identical. A
blockage or a twisted bowel or ??? is the
my best guess, but...
I have tried a cleanse, high volume water
intake, a short fast. Symptons have not
subsided and are about the same.
Did any of you have luck in correcting
this problem, and if so what was it

That happens to me quite often. I have
irritable bowel syndrome. I started
taking a fiber supplement every morning
and avoiding certain things (in your case,
alcohol would what you should avoid) and
it got much much easier.
But you should still see a doctor.

I have found relief to my symptoms. I
started taking a bacterium culture
containing Acidophilus and a few other
Probiotics. I don't eat dairy which is a
common source of good bacterium that helps
in proper digestion and I found within a
week or so my bloating subsided and my BMs
were more regular and normal in appearance
(little or no undigested foodstuffs). I
learned that after a course of antibiotics
the good bacteria in your digestive system
is indiscriminantly destroyed which can
lead to bloating, gas, constipation and/or
diarrea, and lowered immune system. Give
it a try, mcpaulyb, it may help.

SteveFrench,
Great to hear you are finding relief. Have
you considered sourcing a naturopath? A
naturopath has helped me with my eating
and we have come up with solutions about
my digestive issues. I also incorporate a
cleansing program once or 2x a year. That
has helped as well. I also take a great
fiber powder each day from drnatura that
helps maintain regular movements and
consistency.
Here's to relief

I have had the same sort of thing for the
last month or so. Feeling like I was
pushing through a pasta maker, and all
stool being small, and thin. It is
accompanied by fatigue and just general
depression (which i guess perpetuates it).
At the time, I thought it was because I
had a urinary tract infection..and then
later, because I was on antibiotics for
the infection, I thought this
semi-diahhrea was continuing because of
the medication. I am now off the
antibiotics since last friday, it appears
slowly to be getting better, in that I
dont feel as fatigued. After taking a
Motilium for the tender, bloated stomach
last week, I am able to feel my stomach
muscles. However, I was thinking it could
be something like lazy colon, or else
colonic inertia, where the intestine is
just not forming the stool properly.
Another thing that I am going to look into
is whether for some reason, I have poor
absorption of nutrients/vitamins from
food, which could explain the stools. Good
luck with it. I find a combined soluble
and insoluble fibre supplements like Super
F as well as intenstinal flora supplements
like Udo's Super 8 to help with the
regularly, the sensation of BM and also
with the bloating and gas.

Just want to let you know if you are not
aware that antibiotics can cause
constipation so that may be the problem. I
would definately consider doing a
cleansing program if I were in your
situation. It would definately help get
things moving and get your body
on the right track. I would also consider
getting some advice from a naturopath you
may be correct in saying you need some
other vitamins. I hope you find relief,
keep us posted on your progress.
