Has anyone heard of having a prolapsed
uterus at the age of 20 with no children.
I went to the doctor the other day and
while I was having a pap smear my doctor
notice something wrong and said I have
prolapsed uterus and refer me to a
specialist. I have been looking on the
internet to see what it is and it says it
mostly happens to older people or people
who have children. Any information will
be greatly appreciated.

You're right it is more common in older
women, or women who have had children, or
rough labour and delivery. However
everyone if difference and you were
probably just born with weakened muscles
and connective tissues which hold you
uterus in place. It could have also been
caused by a chronic cough from bronchitis
or asthma, as this puts pressure on your
abdomen, as well as the strain from
constipation. Obesity can also be a
cause. It shouldn't be a big problem.
Depending on the stage of your prolapsed
uterus, the specialist can give you
exercises to do (kegal), can give you
medication, or can give you surgery is it
is severe. Hope this helps.
