Genital Warts Dormant For a Long Time Possible? Posted: 07-21-05 14:13pm
Is it possible for hpv to be dormant for
nearly 8 years. I have been faithfull
for 10 years and just noted warts about
1.5 years....I thought they were moles and
now find out they are warts. My wife is
safe so far...To be tested.
4 years ago I went through a dramatic time
- surgery screw up - and was near death.
Around that time I noted what I thought
was a mole or two at the base of my
penis.
I am very dismayed and my wife is very
supportive. Did I play around before we
met?...Yep, months prior, but this lad has
been faithful since.
My wife is the same...Very faithful and
recently - 2 years ago - we had a son who
is not infected with hpv.
Any one heard of it being dormant for this
long?

It wasn't "dormant". Hpv, once in the
body is always there and you are always
"shedding" the virus. It's just you
didn't see the symptoms. A lot of people
have the warts but they are so tiny you
can't even see them. For those who don't
even have the tiny warts, the virus is on
the surface. So, hence its never dormant,
it's always active.
