Osteopath, Physiotherapist Or Chiropracter? Posted: 07-22-05 04:48am
I've been getting increasing problems with
my shoulders and neck. (more stiffness
than pain, although both are present.) my
computer use at work and home has
increased in recent months, and I got a
new bed in january which I think may be a
contributory factor. I also play drums in
a rock band. Massages have helped a
little, but i'm feeling the need for some
professional assistance. My question is
this:
what's the difference between an
osteopath, a physiotherapist and a
chiropracter?
And how do I decide which to approach?

Many thanks, jack.
I've seen an osteopath three times now and
he's working on freeing things up for me.
It turns out my neck is very stiff and
there a lesser problems further down the
spine (which have contributed to the neck
problems).
He attributes the problems to posture - as
I expected. "twenty years of sitting at a
desk" was how he expressed it. I'm now
trying hard to remember to sit and stand
well, and am planning to have some
sessions with an alexander technique
expert.
