My period normally starts anywhere between
the 16th and 23rd of each month. I know
today is only the 23rd, but I am a little
worried why it is so late. For the past
2 months I have had it on the 16th. The
week before I was to have normally started
I began a new exercise routine that
involves walking/jogging about 12 miles a
week. I am hoping that my body is just
getting used to this exercise. In
addition, I think that me stressing about
it not being here is also delaying it. I
have been having cramps and all the other
symptoms, but no period. Does anyone
have any suggestions on what the hold up
could possibly be??? Another important
fact is that pregnancy is totally out of
the question because I am not sexually
active. Help please!

You are exactly right about stressing!
Stress can really do some funny things to
our bodies. Everyone's body goes through
changes which, yes, can affect menstrual
cycles. You did say you have been
exercising, this will definitely alter
your cycle. I would suggest if you don't
have your period by the middle of this
coming week, go ahead and schedule a
doctor's appointment. Even though there
is no way you could be pregnant, the
doctor may want to make sure everything is
functioning ok. The doc may also suggest
that you go on the birth control pill to
regulate your cycle.

Thanks a lot. I am hoping that it will
show up some time within the next week.
I am just trying to not worry and let
nature take it's course. Thanks for
your advice. I really appreciate it.
This is the first time this has ever
happened really, and I have had my period
for around 8 years now. So, I am pretty
sure it must be a combination of the
exercise + stress.

I know that everyone is different, but my
periods are 27 days apart, I count the 28
days out on my calendar and every time its
1 day early. There are however 2 months
out of the year that I am late by a week,
and even though I know what the deal is I
still get worried. I just wanted to let
you know that you may be experiencing
something similar. I'm 23 and have had my
periods down to a t only since I was 20.
