I took Yasmin for a year and loved it. The first two months or so I had experienced mild side effects (tender nipples, lethargic, emotional) but after that I was in the clear. I've tried just about everything out there too; Ortho, Aleese, Nuvaring, and a few I'm forgetting names for at the moment. I actually like Yasmin so much that I switched to Yaz because they're nearly identical bc's except Yaz gives me even shorter periods (there are only 4 placebo pills and my periods average 2 days long and being light to moderate in flow). It has dampened my libido like all bc's have so far, but not to the extremes others did. Basically, no one can tell you whether or not a bc will work for you and your body, but I wouldn't not try it just because you had a bad experience with Depo. I've been through some torturous times with bc myself; on one my hair was falling out in clumps in the shower after I'd been on it for 4 months, another created heightened episodes of rage (I check for that in side effects now because apparently I'm part of the 1/2% of people that happens in). So just try it, what have you got to lose???

YOU HAVE TO give your body 2-3 months to adjust to the hormones.

ALL pills will cause irregular bleeding and spotting until you adjust, so you have to wait it out.

The first time I was on yasmin, I noticed I gained weight and was severly moody. Now that I am taking yasmin again, I have s strict workout plan and have lost weight- 6 lbs since taking yasmin. Also, I have depression and anxiety so I began to take ativan. then started yasmin again Taking yasmin this time around, I don't feel as bad mood swings. (I have always been b**chy, so that has not changed)

What I am trying to say is people are quick to dismiss this pill, like blame it for weight gain and moodiness. Maybe adding a workout schedule or talking to a doctor about anxiety issues is what you really need or wait for your hormones to adjust. But if you are absolutley sure you hate this pill, talk to your doc about switching.

I realy like this pill, I don't have to worry about weight gain, pregnancy, got big boobs again from it, still love sex, losing weight. I do notice that I have to urinate a lot more now- that is the only bad thing.

I used to be on Ortho-cyclen (very old BC), and recently switched to Yazmin. The first 2 months, I had severe cramps the week b4 my cyle. They were so severe that they stopped me in my tracks!

Now my sex drive...that's a different story! headstand
I can't get enough. I feel so sorry for my husband b/c that's the first thing I want as soon as I get home, last thing at night, and first thing in the morning.

I do believe that BC effects everyone differently.
I hope this helps!

I am a 23 year old female. Just lost over 52 pounds the "right" way with diet and exercise over a two year period. I started taking yasmin about a year ago. Since then I have had nothing but problems. I started having shortness or breath. I had to be put on Medicine because my blood pressure was high. My cardiologist decided to take me off my birthcontrol because I started having a uncontrollable heart rate. When I would stand up my heart rate would be easily over 120 beats per mintue. I work out ever day and never had this problem. So after taking my off the b.c. and running a million tests, they decided a sinus node of my heart is not working properly. So now I am on a beta blocker to hopefully control this problem. Since quitting this birth control I have felt a lot better. So what caused all these problems to appear? I was a healthy person before taking birthcontrol?
