Pregnancy With Peirced Bellybutton?
Posted: 07-27-05 16:20pm

Hey everyone. My husband and I are thinking about having a baby soon and to be perfectly honest im worried about the cosmetic things (i know it sounds selfish but I also know im not the only one who thinks about these things). I have a bellybutton peircing and I was wondering if anyone who has been through it can tell me what happenes to your belly button peircing when you get pregnant (during and after pregnancy). Does it move because of stretching? Does it go back to the same spot afterwards? Any information would be really helpfull. Just so I know what to expect. Thank you!!!

Hey, don't feel shy about this question I have actually asked myself that and wondered. I ponder the selfish things:

belly piercings
perfect chest
lost 25lbs now a size 7 fear of being big
i see bad pregnancies here: flip flops, men's sweat shorts, tanks, stains, cig hanging out mouth.......I would want to feel and look pretty and want everyone to still think I was pretty!!!

Some days I think i'm ready. When I was 18 I had a scare with a guy I was not in love with. I am madly in love with my bf now but we are not ready.....I would never give up a child if the time came it was meant to happen. We are both very clear on how we wish to raise our children one day.

I do know my friend had a baby not sure if she had her belly button at the time but the devil (not to be mean this kid is the devil himself) ripped it off her last year at 3 :-/

things to ponder, I hope someone who has been pregnant can maybe answer some of these types of questions :-)

Same thing with my sister...Hey just let it close up and get it repierced. Ive had my done five times and its no big thing for them to re do it. If you leave it in it will stretch and make it a nasty scar...Take it out before your belly gets big, let it heal and get it repierced.

I took mine out at 12 weeks cause it started to feel a little tight. Your best bet is to let it close up and repeirce it later. That's what i'm doing. My old boss told me that his wife left hers in too long and the doctor had to cut it to get it out. My doc said the sooner you let it close the better chance you have of it not ripping when you are farther along.

A really good friend of mine really was determined to keep her bellybutton ring while she was pregnant. She kept getting bigger and bigger and it would stretch and stretch(she was pregnant with twins) and finally it riped out!! Actually riped all the way out!! True story. I would say it would probably be a good idea to take it out and get it repercied when the time came.

I have been thinking the same question! I love my belly piercing but don't want a nasty scar. So I contacted the body jewellery shop and asked her what she recommends.

They told me that there is a bar called a ptfe which is flexible and will move with your tummy. She said that they have had a good response from these, the only problems that have occured are due to not getting a big enough one. She said that they don't look particularly attractive, but will do the job.

She also told me that women who keep their piecings in, can have problems as the normal bars aren't flexible and therefore can rip out. Further complications can occur as the body is totally focused on the baby and not mending the ripped bit of your tummy.

The pregnancy bar only costs £3.00 in the uk, but might be worth doing a check on yahoo or something if you are outside the uk.

The link that I found is.....Dunt dunt derrr......

They make a special kind of belly button ring you can wear throughout your pregnancy. I'm a bit busy to look it up right now, on my way out, but you should do some research on it. Some (few) people are lucky enough that theirs dont grow in, but it's rare. But the bar on the special ring is super-flexxy, and it's longer. Not great for looks, but it can stay in to keep it from closing up on you. And they are proven to not rip you or anything. Goodluck in the hunt, if you cant find it email me later (aqua_angel19@yahoo.Com) and i'll put on my detective hat for you.

I'm late!!!! Bye girls! goodluck!

I wore my belly button bar bell until I went into labor. I only took it out over pariniod of a possible c-section. So I think it veries from person to person.

Well that is good info to know....But what about a clitoral hood piercing? I would hate to get that done over again....Do they make a special ring for that? We weren't planning on anymore babies when I had it done so I never thought about the possibility of giving birth again.

i don't have one of them..But I am guessing that they will most likly make you take that out...Your bird strtches, and will sometimes rip in weird spots...My sister ripped upwards, into the clitoral region...So that's just why I think ...But maybe im wrong ...
