Does the Novelty of Love Eventually Wear Off?
Posted: 07-27-05 21:18pm

Alright so me and my boyfriend dated for a year, he was my first true love and our relationship was pretty good..But he had some commitment issues so we broke up. We were apart for a year and a half. I missed him and thought about him every day and then one day I decided to email him and see how he was doing. It turned out he missed me as well and we got back together. I was so happy when we got back together, it was something I thought would never happen. And in the year and a half we were apart everyone I dated just wasnt good enough..Because they werent him. I just couldnt feel about anyone the way I had felt about him. Now we have been going back out for about 5-6 months now and things have been good. Im in love with him and we've talked about marriage and things of that nature. But the last couple days ive been feeling kind of weird..Maybe depressed. And I feel like I could care less if we stayed together. Im not sure if maybe im scared about being so committed to somebody or not. I know I love him and he knows me better than anyone else. I feel like I am supposed to spend my life with him..But these past couple days I just feel like I dont want to be around him..Or anyone. We dont seem to have a lot of things in common..We are almost the complete oppisite of each other. Sometimes I can be moody and have a bad attitude and he hates that. Sometimes I feel like I have to be very aware of how im acting so he wont get mad and break up with me. I dont know what to do. I dont know if im depressed..Or if I should break up with him. But I dont think I should..I mean when we were apart I never stopped loving him or thinking about him, and I could never find a man that matched up to him. I need some advice please help!

Nah mate your not depressed!!!

I guess you could say the honey moon faze is over in your case again!! Its quite natural to have the feelings your having. You feel that he is the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with but what if your wrong? I have these feelings almost everyday and i'm still not quite sure.

You say that you wouldn't be bothered if you and him broke up but I bet the thought of being on your own absolutely scares the crap out of you.

Its just a faze babe, it will come and go trust me!! Its went you cant stand him touching you, the sight of him or my bad habit when i'm not happy in a relationship I cheat on him!! Haven't done that in the 4 yrs my partner and I have been together so i'm going good so far.

Cheer up!! :-)

Thanks a lot. Its always better to know that other people go through the same things. Things have gotten better now and im out of that phase. And I know what your talking about with the sight of people disgusting you. Thats happened to me quite a few times. Ill go out with someone and then all of a sudden they make my skin literally crawl and I cant stand to let them touch me. Its horrible! Thankfully that has never been the case with him and I hope it never is. Thanks again for the advice!
