I've been on welbutrin sr 150mg, 2x daily
for about 5 years. I've found it works
really well for my mild to moderate
depression. When I first started taking
it I remember it reduced my apetite for
the first few months (i lost a few pounds
which was nice), my saliva production
increased and I found myself a little
prone to spitting when I talked but i've
either gotten used to it or it went back
to normal (i've not heard about that
particular side effect from anyone else,
so maybe that was just me), I had severe
insomnia before I started taking it and
after I was finally able to shut my mind
up and sleep soundly, I haven't seen any
difference in my libido. I do remember
that for the first several months, if I
forgot to take it in the morning (my first
dose of the day) I felt really anxious,
but as long as I didn't miss a dose I was
fine, I don't have that problem anymore,
if I miss a dose now I don't experience
anything, but i've never gone off of it,
so I don't know what withdrawl would be
like.

I have recently been on Welbutrin Xl for
almost 2 months and found out that i am
very allergic to it. I woke up with a
slight rash and for the next three days it
became worse. I had hives from head to
toe and the welts had blister type areas
in some of them. It was very painful and
irritating. My body is still in the
process of discarding all the excess of
the welbutrin... i still have the nausia
and shakes... But due to my reaction my
doctors didnt want to add anything to my
system for another week or so.. I am
hoping to find a solution, soon

mgs of Effexor. I'm feeling good but my
stomach is very bloaty and I am very
gassy. Anyone else have this problem and
does it go away.

It has to do with your body chemistry so
what side effects one person may have
might not affect another person. In my
case I started taking Wellbutrin, 300mg,
thinking it would have the least side
affects as far as antidepressants go. I
was being weaned off of Effexor, 150
mg/day, and was put on Celexa/Effexor,
then Celexa/Wellbutrin and finally
Wellbutrin. My husband passed away
unexpectedly in June, last year my son
died in a motorcycle accident, the year
before that my stepmother and my mother
the year before her. My history of
antidepressants began about 9 yrs ago,
started out with Prozac, gained about 30
lbs. and felt like a slug, no energy, no
interest in sex or anything else, and then
on Effexor about 3 yrs after Prozac, maybe
a little more engery taking the Effexor
but same zombie like feeling and no
interest in sex My experience with the
Wellbutrin has almost made me lose my job,
due to being scatterbrained, disorganized,
causing me to be late & lackadaisical
attitude. I also suffered severe short
term memory lost and absentmindedness,
lost $500 last Friday & don't have a
clue where it went. Headaches like
lightning bolt going thru heading lasting
about 30 seconds, put on about 10 more
lbs. same disinterest in sex. I also
developed a severe rash on my face and I
have never had any problem with facial
rashes or breakouts until I went on
Celexa/Welbutrin So, I am being weaned
off the Wellbutrin ASAP and I do not want
to get back on an antidepressant unless it
is absolutely necessary. ALL
antidepressants have nasty side effects
and I'm tired of being a zombie. They
serve their purpose and it's wonderful
they are available, but I hope I'm done
with them. I already feel so much better.
Good luck, and try to get off the
antidepressants. Feeling emotions is
human!!!

Seroquel. I used to think Wellbutrin
helped to calm me down. Anymore I think
that it gives me an attiude. When I get
really mad about something it doesn't seem
to help me at all!! I don't
see that at the present time it helps me
with my depression . Maybe it's
because I have been on it for awhile now
and it has lost its effectiveness??? I
tried everyother day and that didin't seem
to make a difference. I have not taken it
for 5 or 6 days now and don't think I see
that there is a difference from when I do
take it. Has anyone else noticed that it
effects them this same way?

about a week ago and starting 300mg XL
tomorrow.. so far.. I havent had any loss
of appetite.. i actually gained some
weight on it and hungry all the time.. do
you think taking 300mg can cut my
appetite?
I was on Prozac before I started wellbutin
and with Prozac.. I had loss of appetite
but my sex drive was just gone.. can you
take both wellbutin and prozac at the same
time? is it safe to do so?

I also am taking Wellbutrin XL at 300mg a
day with 100mg of Lamictal.
I notice I have been more depressed. I do
a daily mood chart and it is difficult for
me to discern if my life circumstances is
the central cause of my depression of the
meds or both.
Easter holiday was stressful with the,
"How are you?" questions. I just don't
know what to say anymore.
So...time will tell w/WB

Hi all! I've been using Wellbutrin XL for
almost 3 years for anxiety/depression. I
began with 150mg for 1 week, then 300mg
for 3months, then up to 450mg for
maintenance dose. Before that I used
Effexor and Zoloft, both worked for a
short time then nothing. On the Wellbutrin
I have been very happy. I have been able
to handle everything without getting
overexcited and stressed out. As for
libido, its better on Wellbutrin XL than
on the others. As for eating, I have to
remember to do it, but I've always stopped
eating when I'm stressed. I make it a
point to only take my medication with
dinner, otherwise it upsets my stomach,
but all medication does that to me. The
only side effects I've noticed are
headaches -- when I don't take my
medication. Occassionally I decide I'm
okay without it so I stop for about a
week, and all hell breaks loose so my
boyfriend reminds me to take my meds. Good
luck to you all and reply if you have more
questions.
