On Pill But No Period This Month. Posted: 07-30-05 16:23pm
Hi there,
i have been on the pill for about 6
months. I had been off it for a few years
but before that I was on it for about 2
years. Basically, i'm pretty comfortable
with it. I usually know exactly when to
expect my period.
Last month I started my pill when I got my
period on june 27th. Usually I get my
period 24 days later (on the wednesday of
the sugar pills) in other words, july
20th. About 10 days into my pills I
dropped one down the drain. I was halfway
through my second week of pills.. So I
went to the pharmacy to get another pack
to replace the pill I lost. The
pharmacist assured me it was ok to just
skip that pill and continue on as usual.
He said basically.. "don't worry, the
pill starts working as soon as you take
it. The worst that can happen would be
maybe getting your period a day late."
he also told me it would be ok to skip a
month of pills. Although now i'm reading
websites that say the complete opposite,
to continue taking your pills no matter
what. :(
well, it's been 10 days now and still no
sign of my period whatsoever. I took a
pregnancy test tuesday and it was
negative. I've never missed a period on
the pill. I don't understand what could
be going on.
Another thing is, this wednesday I had
unprotected sex so now i'm worried that
since i'm no longer taking the pill, that
an egg might have been released and
considering I usually have a 24 day cycle,
according to ovulation calculators, i'd be
ovulating between july 28th and july 30th.
And I had sex on july 27th. But on the
other hand, if I didn't have my period, it
should maybe mean i'm not ovulating..
I'm soooo confused and quite frankly a bit
scared. Anyone had similar experiences?
Thank you

I just wanted to let you know that while I
would still probably take a pregnancy test
again just to be sure, I missed my pill
once as well (i dropped it on the floor of
a movie theater and couldn't find it) and
that month my period started about three
days late (saturday instead of wednesday).
I'm also very regular (always starting
on wednesday of the placebo pills) so I
was really scared when it didn't come
right on time, too. It's also true that
excessive worry (about missing your
period/ possibly being pregnant) can
further delay your period. It'd probably
be best just to take a test and ease your
mind.
