Please Tell Me Your Thoughts About Thyroid Ablation
Posted: 07-30-05 18:37pm

I was recently diagnosed with graves disease and thyroid ablation was the recommendation. Although I am scheduled to have this done in 2 weeks, I am very nervous because I have not gotten a second opinion. I've have severe irritability and anxiety for so long now that I don't want to waste the time if the doctor is right and this will help. I travel a lot so postponing for a second opinion will require about 4-6 more months before I could get treatment. However, I don't want to do something that will make it worse. I understand that sinthroid does not work for all women and i'm afraid i'll be going through this for a very long time. Any input that I get from anyone with knowledge, I will very much appreciate. Thank you.

Hi there! It never hurts to get a second opinion or even a third, that is what drs are for to give you their input, feelings, whatever also.
Good luck!
Keep us posted on what you find out, if you would like to.

Just thought i'd let you know i'm one of the people synthroid does not work for... I've been taking armour thyroid with a small supplement of levoxyl for a year now and feel fantastic. The hurdle is figuring out the right amount and finding a doctor that is open-minded and realizes people feel the best when they are on the high end of the "normal range" per lab tests. Don't worry about the ablation. You'll probably feel better than you have in years once your doctor finds the right level for you.
