Dislocated Shoulder

What is the best way to heal a dislocated shoulder? Last night my boyfriend fell off a motorcycle & dislocated his shoulder. He poped it right in but is terrible pain....Any suggestions on how to take care of it and avoid a bigger injury????

I've dislocated my shoulder many times. There are a few things that could have happened. The ligaments could have been torn, which is very bad, and you won't be able to tell unless you go to a doctor about it. The other possibility is that the ligaments are just stretched, which is better. Either way it may require surgery to get fixed up. For the immediate pain though, I recommend icyhot. I'm having my shoulder ligaments reattached, and the recovery time is about 6 months. I'm sure thats not what he's going to want to do, but it is the only way to repair it. It isn't urgent to get repaired though, it could be done immediately, or it could be done ten years from now. I hope this has helped somewhat, if you have questions my email is ph34r.1 337@gmail.Com

I strongly recommand seeing a doctor . Shoulder joint is most commonly dislocated inferiorly (downwards).

I dis-located my collar bone, where it connects with the shoulder, just take advil, to help keep down the swelling. Also ice it, or use the icey hot like stated above.
