Hey everyone, i'm new to this message
board. Just recently i've been having
problems with anxiety/panic attacks again.
I had the problem 2 years ago and took
paxil for almost a year, which helped but
really made my mood not that great.
After I told the doc that it was making me
too sleepy, he put me on zoloft and I
pretty much went insane on it; my heart
was skipping beats, I had to take sleeping
pills if I wanted to fall asleep, and I
would have moments of rage where I would
throw things accross the room. I stopped
taking all ssris last december, but within
the past few weeks the problem of anxiety
has come back. I went to the doctor, and
this time she gave me buspirone. Has
anyone taken this before? I've been
taking it for three days, and already I
don't like the way it's making me feel.
I'm wondering if I should stop taking it
incase another zoloft episode is in the
making. How has experience with this
medication, and what are your thoughts on
it?

Just a little update...
Yesterday I noticed that I was severly
depressed and I knew that it had to be
from buspar. So i've decided to stop
taking it and today i'm feeling better.
The thing is, I read on the homepage for
buspar that they think that generalized
anxiety disorder is caused by too much
serotonin in the brain, and that buspar
works to lower the levels of serotonin in
the brain to correct this. Well I can
guarantee that my serotonin levels aren't
too high; i'd say it's the opposite. So
lowering the level even more would be a
seriously dangerious thing. I guess i'll
just tough it out here for a while if I
have more panic attacks and stuff. The
semester is over in a few weeks, so it's
definitely possible to do it without
medication.

Hi I know a girl who was on buspar but she
was also a recovering heroin addict and
was on methadone and the mix was real bad
she acted completely nuts from the
medication but like I said I think it was
because she was drinking methadone that
caused that reaction. Good luck di :d

I decided to give buspar a chance after my
bad experience with antidepressants. It
seemed to work for my anxiety then I
decided to come off of it. I followed my
doctors advice and weaned myself off of
it. I was sitting at dinner one night
and looked at the skyscraper next to me
and thought...I could just jump off of
that right now. That was when I knew I
had to get off that medicine. I have
never had any kind of depression problems
only when I come on or off medication. I
think about things that I would never ever
think about. I rather deal with my
anxiety then suffer major side effects of
this medicaiton!

When you start takin buspar it takes
longer to take affect like a week or two
and when it does take affect it dont work.
Try xanic they work good, but take them
only if you have to.

My Experiences With Buspirone... Posted: 03-01-04 16:30pm
I only came to buspirone because I
couldn't take the ssris. They worked, but
the side effects (mostly sexual) were too
much. I've been on buspirone about 4
weeks. I don't really know if it's
helping. I'm definitely moody and
depressed. Sometimes even sullen and
bitter, which I am usually not. Generally
melancholy all the time. Most of all
though, every night it takes hours to get
to sleep - my mind races about
catastrophic events, etc. Then in the
morning, I can barely get out of bed, and
all day my body feels like I just ran a 26
mile marathon. All day, every day, my
body feels physically ravaged - it's
horrible. Muscle aches, extreme fatigue,
drowsiness. Slurring words, a little
dizziness, some headaches.
So, I would say this medication is making
life worse, not better. My doc and my
research said it was effective for fewer
people, less often prescribed. I'm going
to give it another month or so and if
things aren't better i'll just have to go
without.

I am taking paxil cr for my anxiety
attacks and I have not had any problems
with it. It has been ten days so I am
still waiting to see how it does with my
anxiety but the side effects have been
minimal. The controlled release is
supposed to help reduce the side effects.
I know that with any medication you can
react in a negative way. I always
remember one day at a time. Has anyone
has any good experiences with buspar or
paxil cr?
