Crohn's Disease And Omega 3 Fatty Acids Posted: 08-02-05 12:46pm
I am writing an article on crohn's
disease. In several publications i've
read that crohn's sufferers could benefit
from the anti-inflammatory effects of
omega-3 fatty acids. Does anybody know
what the recommended and/or accepted daily
intake is?
Thank you in advance.

I take t his for crohn's disease and other
disorders I was born with. The
recommeded dose is two soft gel pills a
day. I'm not sure if it makes a
difference but my daughter takes it for
other things.
Your best bet is to talk to a pharmacist
who knows more about medications than your
doctor does. Doctor's tend to not want
you to take otc's from gnc. Why?
Because they don't get their kickbacks for
rx'ing prescription drugs. Lovely huh?
Hope this helped you out and if not sorry
I wasted ur time.

hey, I have had abdominal pains for the
longest time and where I live, the doc's
arent the greatest there rare and hard to
keep in northern canada, but I finally was
diagnosed with crohns, its not the funnest
thing to have when I feel well I go all
out and take advantage of it, ive tryed to
keep up with taking vitamins for ht
longest time through out m youth but it
always fell through, but now with having
crohns and just finding out this week,
when I take my vitamins and the omega
3-6-9 I just stated trying last month, I
feel better I dont know why but I dont get
the pain very much maybe a slight pain
here or there but not a full blown attack,
I would suggest trying it, it cant do any
harm, the omega 3-6-9 I have suggest 3
pills a day so breakfest lunch and dinner.
Im 21 and have had these pains for 2
years and only found out this week what it
actually was after having the docs tell me
I have excessive acid and giving me
antacids... Thats was the most
frustrating 2 years ever....

my husband was diagnosed with crohn's when
he was 14 aftre seven years of trying to
find out what was wrong( seven years that
nearly killed him). since he left his teen
years behind the disease has quieted down
quite a bit however in the six years we've
been married he's had at least four decent
flares. that being said he's never had to
have surgery, he has had a wonderful doc
who has done everything to avoid
introducing him to steriods, and becasue
he's an fool - won't take his asicol. in
fact he hasn't taken any in years. what he
does is take a generic multi-vitamin, fish
oil capsules every day, and eats salmon
and sardines on a regular basis. I also
only cook in healthy oils. recently I've
been using a lot of coconut oil as well.
it works. it works for him at least. it
has made an enormous difference. he was
raised on nothing but junk food- and
except for those few things continues to
eat nothing but junk food. the boy should
be much much sicker then he is with his
bad habits. ( when he was first diagnosed
his case was classified as severe. it's by
no means gone- but he's generally pretty
healthy in that it rarely affects his day
to day life at all). i think it's the fish
oil.
