Hi guys, i'm sorry, I don't have any answeres for ya right now, but while we are on this topic I am hoping that someone could explain the procedure for having a c/s, my doctor told me that I am most likely going to have to have one because my birthing canal (or something) is too narrow. This scares me to death.

I totally agree with what ur doctor has told u. I was in the same vote.. I first got pregnant and had my first little one 5 years ago and I was told the exact same thing. Then people started telling me not to listen to him, that r bodies r made to have babies, and it was them that was totally wrong.

I ended up being way to narrow to deliver her and she was premature!! They had to end up during and emergancy c-section.

My advice to u is, listen to the doctor. They told me that my little one could have died when the chose that I had made. That she could have gotten stuck and if that was the case then there would have been nothing that they could have done.

really? You know this woman's medical history to tell her you agree with her doctor? Do you know how many women truly can't give birth because of a narrow pelvis? You may have well been one of these women, but facts back me up... Most c/s are unnecessary. Your chance at dying are higher in a c/s than natural birth. But if you think getting a second opinion from a doctor is stupid, no wonder you were lied to so easily.

i really have no idea what ur problem is. How many children do u have? Do u even have ne experinence in that situation at all??

Like I said before, I didn't listen and I did try natural birth until something when wrong. It was there afterwards that I realized I should have listen. It could have costed me my daughter. Just for the one stupid mistake that I did, which u r one of those people that r going to make this person asking the question do. That is all I am saying.

And just so u know. For one, it's not narrow pelvic, its a narrow birth canal! And yes, delivering a child with a narrow birth canal is a lot more dangerous then a c-section. I think u should be the one that does a little more research before replying to the question that she asked.

I had a c-sec in june after 36 1/2 hours of labour. I was fully dilated for 4 hours but my stubborn son's head was malpositioned. The doc waited for him to move and tried stuff to make him move but nothing. If I had pushed him out he could have snapped his neck. I cried and felt like a total failure when they suggested a c-sec but as my epidural machine broke during my last 2 hours I just wanted that baby out! Lol anyway I was up and walking 12 hours later and feel fine now. My scar is long as my son was biggish but it's very low and you can't see it even when i'm in my low rise thongs so... My doc told me I should be able to have a vaginal birth next time as it was a position prob and not a prob with my body.

i bet your doctor told you all along you would need a c/s. He sounds wonderful... Really cared about your birth plan, huh?

wrong, but what else is new. @@

q: my doctor told me my pelvis is too small to vaginally deliver a baby over eight pounds. Is this true?
U keep going on about a narrow pelvis and r even looking this info up. I will say once again it"s not the pelvis!! It is the birth canal that is too narrow and yes, doctors can tell this when they do a pap smear. What it is is that for some reason some of ur insides stop growing at a certain age. For some reason my birth canal stoped growing and they said that it was about the size that it would be in a 10 years old.

I am not telling this person not to get a second opinion, all I am saying is if she gets a second opinion from a doctor, and he sayd the same thing, then for her not to listen to either one of us and to go with what they say.

There is just one thing that I don't understand. If u think that c/s r so dangerous, then u ovbiously have never had one, so y r u on this type trying to give everyone else advice??

A: no, the pelvis and the baby's head are not fixed bone structures. During labor the pelvis opens, allowing room for the baby, whose head molds to fit. The pelvis will actually open up 33% larger than it's pre-pregnant size with a squatting position. There are several factors that contribute to this. First a hormone called relaxin is released during the latter part of pregnancy which soften the ligaments and cartilage surrounding the pelvis. Also different positions assumed during labor will change the dimensions of the pelvis such as walking, climbing stairs and squatting. This combined with the flexibility of the baby's head gives ample room for babies to move through the pelvis. The baby's head is made up of five plates that are connected with soft tissues that allow it to mold during the birth process as the baby travels through the pelvis. These bones return to their pre-birth state within hours of birth.

next time, trust your instincts and get a second opinion instead of blindly allowing a doctor to slice you open.

I can not believe youb guys are arguing like this.......Yes c-sections hold a higher maternal death rate..But there are times when this is a much safer procedure......For instance my daughter at only 6 ibls was in the birthing canal too long and I was not dialating so after 12 hours of labor I had an emergency c-section well during that she was already down the birthing canal and by this time her heart rate was extremely low thery worked their fastest to get her and her shoulder ripped my uterine wall down to my vagina now pregnant again I am strongly recomended to have a c-section.....A childs life is more important then going natural and vaginally........

My friend was carrying a big baby and they were concerned about the head fitting through but tried going vaginally after hours of miserable labor the head would not fit and an emergency c-section was performed...

I think you have no idea what you are saying. I had a c-section and there was no way of having natural I had an 11lbs baby and no I did not enjoy getting cut open but I sure as hell was not giving natural birth to a 2month old.

Why is it that you constantly go around, copy what people say, and then post a reply? If you don't have anything positive to say, quit reading this and stay away! People come here for help and positive answers. The things you bring up half the time have nothing to do with anything!

Pc Shut Up And Listen Please
Posted: 08-04-05 16:51pm

Listen pc if I had recorded my childs birth I would have love for you to tell my doctors were lying....I had great doctors and I tried my hardest to give birth vaginally..........No way do I ever want to have a c section and sometimes I am still depressed today but fact is her heart rate was soooooo low extremely lowshe could have died I waited to thevery last minute to have a c-section and thats what saved her life!!!! Id rather have her then kill her doing what you think I should have........My body would not dialate fast enough...They tried everything and every drug so you have no right saying our doctors lie to us..........And let me say one more thing I have read your other posts in other forums and you are a monster!!! What is wrong with you ...Always have to be right and have the last word! And for your information after I got home I got sick in the middle of winter and with a fever was not aloud to continue breastfeeding..........Let me guess they lied then too.....And I am horrible because I had to bottle feed. I dont think so !!! I did what I had to not I wanted to! And let me tell you my 2 year old is very healthy and they say one of the smartest they have seen...Shes well advanced and the best!! That is thanks to me!! The way I raise her and treat her not the way I gave birth or what I fed her...I can only imagine what your children think of you or how you treat them you have no respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something is seriously wrong with you! My child is more important then taking chances! I saw her heart rate dropping let me guess it was a fixed computer screen next to me! I dont think so........Seriously something is wrong with you! And no I wouldnt just say that but my child is very much advanced and very healthy that is thanks to the way I take care of her not the way she was born. I can't imagine you have any friends or anything and I assume whoever got you pregnant left a long time ago because you always have to be right and know everything..............Listen you are not god and you are not everywhere at every waking minute to know whats going on with who...........Yes we all have a right to try if we wish , but if we are smart we will listen to the doctors and protect our children!

Why dont you get off your a$$ and spend some time with your so called children....If they still consider you their mother!!!

You have hit a nerve and that angers me off. I went into a huge depression over my c/s thinking I could have done something else and its people like you that make people feel bad. You are supposed to offer help and advise not get down on people for what has happened to them. Now I am done with you.
