Doctors Are Beginning to Really Tick Me Off....(kinda Long)
Posted: 08-05-05 10:29am

This is how my appt. With my gyno went yesterday. Doctors are blowing me off & I am just getting really annoyed & angry! Please…i know this is long, but just encourage me somehow. Thanks!!!

Too make a long story short, the gyn (male) decided that there is nothing wrong with me by just feeling inside me (like within a few minutes). I’ve been having light cramping (seems like my period is starting) & light lower back pain for almost 4 weeks (sunday). My period ended on friday last week & started on wednesday (yes, a 2 day period which was very light & short). He checked my reproductive organs by sticking his hand/fingers (whatever) up my vagina. He didn't give me any other reasons to what it could be. If I wouldn't have questioned him about what else it could be, then he would have walked out then. Of course, he still didn't give me any other reasons except to say that I didn't give him enough info. I think he thinks i'm making this up. I told him that it was period-like cramping. I showed him where @ the beginning, but I told him again. He wanted to know whether or not I was taking meds for it. I told him that it hasn’t been that bad just more of an annoyance because I do not know why. First of all, though, I feel that I should not be taking any meds for it because almost 4 weeks of it means there is something wrong & they should try to get to the bottom of it. Secondly, if I was pregnant (slight chance), then it wouldn't be healthy for the baby. Thirdly, I forgot to tell him this, but I have been having gas a lot in the past week and a half (not usual except right before period & during). These cramps feel like i'm getting ready to start except when I am about ready to have a bm (sometimes it hurts more & sometimes it doesn't, but not unusual because I have this during my periods, too) or I have gas. I can tell when i'm going to have gas. The cramping gets a little more intense & my lower back hurts a little more, but after the gas is gone, then we're back to the light cramping. I did have constipation a few weeks ago, but that was intense cramping all over abdomen & back, but I have been taking fiber since & haven’t had an issue since (i told him this, too). I told him a few other things including how my boobs changed last week for no reason & I have veins on my chest. He said, "they just do that." I said, "for no apparent reason??" he said, "yeah." he wouldn't even give me an explanation as to why. I have changed bc already (this past sunday) to one that never bothered me before & still have everything I had before, so it is not the bc (from a low dose--mircette to a higher dose--ovcon 35) or it would have at least let up or even disappeared by now. He acts like i'm not pregnant (without even checking anything) which is fine...Maybe i'm not, but he should at least check by doing a blood test to rule it out. His final words were, "ok, well, i'll tell your surgeon to take pics of your reproductive organs when he does the surgery. Then we'll see if there is anything wrong."

he didn't even address my uti. Argh! I have had a uti since wednesday afternoon, but i've been taking cranberry pills & azo (uti pain killers) since wed. Afternoon. He literally almost walked out the door without giving me any information about how my pee came out. He didn't even address it. I could not believe it! If I hadn't asked about it, he would have left! When I did ask, he said your urine was normal except for one little thing. I said, "well, then why does it hurt when I finish peeing? I know what a uti is because I had one a month and a half ago. I have one." he said, "how often are you urinating?" I said, "yesterday, I was urinating every 5-10 min., but since I started taking azo (i gave it to him @ this point) i've been doing better.” he read the box & then said, "ok...I'll go ahead & give you a prescription." I almost wanted to scream! I was so ticked off that he didn't even address it. I do not think i'll be going back to him.

thanks for letting me vent! I have gb surgery on the 15th, so i’m going to call my surgeon & ask if they really want to make sure i’m not pregnant. If they do, I will ask them to please do a blood test (i have to go in a few days early for some pre-surgery things). They were already planning on doing a urine test, but I want to be positive that i’m not. Then, we can go from there. You know? We’ll see how it goes.

I’m done venting for now. :sheepish:

Wow! I would definately look into another doctor. I am on ovcon-35 now also. I switched almost 2 months ago from ortho tri-cyclen. Since you switched from a low dose to high dose I don't think you would be pregnant, unless you take your pills inconsistantly. My first period on ovcon was only a day long and i'm not pg. Plus switching to a new pill can kind of toy with your system, i.E. Cramping, spotting, etc. But seriously, get another doctor. I had a gyno like this one time. He had his hands in me and his phone rang, so he stepped out of the room!!!! Haha....Just get another doctor.

Thanks to both of you. I'll try to get a new gyno, but my insurance is really restrictive. I'd have to have a referral from my regular doctor since this gyno is in the same clinic. I'd probably have to really complain. I did not see another gyno on the clinic's list. I'll definitely try! I even have someone i've already picked out who I want & in my insurance directory. We'll see, though.
