HI there! I am so sorry you have had a
rough time! Have they formally diagnosed
you?
A positive ANA does not mean Lupus by
itself! There are other things it can be.
ANA is the Anti-Nuclear antibodies and
appear in a person's body when they have
some type of autoimmune reaction. When it
increases, such as your has, it usually
means it is currently more active than
before.
What other tests have you had? What other
meds? Are you seeing a Rheumatologist?
What about the sedrate test? C Reactive
Protein? What about Double Stranded DNA?
Single Stranded DNA? Do you know if these
have even been done? They are not typical
tests... Have they done a simple RA test?
Have you tried steroids for the rashes?
What have they given you?
Do you feel comfortable with the answers
you are getting? You need to ask yourself
that!!!!
Plaquenil is an antimalarial used in mild
Lupus patients to help control rashes and
joint pain. One of the few drawbacks has
to do with your eyes. Did your Doctor
mention needing your eyes checked every 6
months? Another interesting thing about
Plaquenil is that it takes 6-8 weeks to
get into your system!
I do hope you feel better and if you want
to talk/chat write back or e-mail me
privately! I'll help anyway I can!

Maybe Lupus Or Not Posted: 08-14-03 22:21pm
I was diagnosed w/ lupus 7 years ago
(age17). I been in and out of different
hospitals, doctor's offices, and pain
clinics. The best advice that I can give
you is to stay positive and only do what
you feel is right for your body. For a
long time, I felt like a lab rat because
different doc's were doing different
things, and I hated most of them. As
soon as I laid down the law and let them
know that I am the patient and it's my
body they're doing this to, and if I don't
want to try something, then I don't have
to.
Ya know what I mean? Always look to god
because he always takes care of his
children.
